Hi, Im looking for advice on Building a go kart for myself. Im kinda Mechanically Inclined but im not sure what my set up should be for the type of riding i want to do. i have tons of trails around my house and unfortunately the Kart frame i have doesnt have a suspension. Im wondering all of the parts i would need for a suspension and about how much it would cost. im kind of an aggressive rider so i need something that will hold well :wai:

Being in the auto industry for the past 25 years, people often ask me "how difficult/expensive would it be to convert my auto trans to a manual (stick)" to which I respond "it's cheaper/easier to buy a new car with the manual trans fitted..."

I'm giving you the same advice; if you want full suspension, buy a kart with full suspension; in the long run it will be cheaper, quicker & much less of a headache than trying to add suspension to your kart; due to certain restraints, it may not even be possible to add suspension to your kart & you always have the risk of something breaking or just not working at all...

The point Fabroman was making is that it would be cheaper to buy a new frame. If you can't afford a new frame, you can't afford retrofit your existing frame.

That's quite possibly...the best advice he^ has given since I joined this forum.....(and he's given some very good advice over the years)....

Thanks Doug... I think :lolgoku:

First, you may have realised that certain words are not allowed here; we have a database of "banned" words which, when used, will be replaced by a bunch of asterix's. The reason for this is this is a "G" rated family forum... no profanities please...

Now that we have a bit of background (this is why we prefer you make an intro thread first), we will do everything we can to help you achieve your goal...

I stand by my earlier statement, what you need to do is sell what you have now (hopefully, for a profit) & put those funds, together with your savings, & buy a kart that has suspension but, maybe, needs a little work; In the long run, I think this will be the more satisfying, worthwhile & budget friendly option...

Well....you'd be surprised.....but of course...when people don't fill out a profile location :mad2::mad2:..... it makes it harder for us to give you advice! !!!

What he ^^ means is, if we know what area you come from, we can help with the search for a decent donor at a decent price...
