I have been riding my go kart around the neighborhood and I've met more of my neighbors than I ever have driving by them in my car. They all look & wave, one asked me to find him one. I wasn't sure if he was joking, but I would look on CL some times to see if any karts came up like the deal I found. Sure enough, one showed up, in our city, the same brand as mine Super Wheels by Carter, a 2 seater, single wheel drive, original paint, 5 inch tires 1 is bald, new Predator that won't start after sitting a year. The owner cleaned the carb but still couldn't start it. We went to look at it and he bought it, the seller loaded in his truck and brought it to my neighbors house. I removed the carb to clean it and when I remounted it, I noticed it had a gap between it and the manifold. There was a metal gasket piece that we were able to remove, then the carb fit tight on the manifold. The pull start was positioned wrong, so we changed that and it cranked right up.

There needs to be a gasket there for certain, but maybe it was "clocked" wrong. It only fits a certain way or in a certain orientation.

It's amazing how many people cannot correctly reassemble something they took apart.

Regardless, that's a cool score. You have a riding buddy now.
Of course, the horrible alternative is that your neighbors hate your kart. That's something you don't want.

Score!!!!!

That gasket is supposed to be there though. Maybe look for some youtube vids of carb cleaning and disassembly to see where it goes and how it should be replaced. It looks like it has gasket maker on it that needs to be scraped off

I'm sure there is a paper/cardboard gasket between manifold and carb. This was a piece of metal and it must not have been sitting flush for some reason. It didn't just slide off, I had to pry it off but it was the part causing a gap. Runs fine without it, maybe I will revisit this again, neighbors kart - not mine. I noticed when shopping for carbs on Amazon, you can get several different gaskets. If you don't install the correct one, in the correct position, it could cover the small hole and channel in the carb or manifold. My Carroll Stream 6.5HP was not running right. It had 2 gaskets between the carb and manifold. One started coming off when I removed my carb, the other was stuck to the engine so good I didn't even noticed it was there. No matter which position I put the loose one on, it covered the small hole. Then I noticed there was a gasket stuck to the engine, so I left out the loose one and it's run fine ever since.

You can always put a hole in the gasket.

Just let the neighbor know it might be a good idea to get the correct gasket and install. Might prevent future head scratchers.

One of my friends let a kid ride his recon down the street, told him to not go above 3rd, so he went in 3rd gear, full throttle, all the way down the street
