Needing a motor

Hey guys. Im new. But looking to replace my 2hp motor with something more powerful. If anyone has an extra motor that they have swapped please let me know. I am looking for maybe a 5 to 8hp motor. I have about 60 bucks. So if anyone has an extra motor that their not going to use, please let me know. I already have a clutch. Thanks.

this is the engine i have in my mini bike and it HAULS. 3/4 bore shaft though. so depending on what clutch you have from your 2hp or whatever you might need a $30 hillard clutch.

also you can modify the engines to pull out more HP.

What size clutch do you have?

I do not know. But the motor is a 2hp Tecumseh, if that helps at all.

this look like what you have? if so you would need a different clutch for a larger engine. what type of kart/mini is this going on?

p.s. i was about to ask whether or not you had a electric motor or an engine, but i'm pretty sure Tecumseh didn't make an electric motor.

This is the motor i have. But it is beat up and it is knocking hard.

Measure the shaft bore of the engine with a ruler. But im almost positive you have a 5/8 bore since its only 2hp.

A used engine might not be cheaper.. Depending on what you get.

If you want a project you can rebuild that tecumseh 2hp and modify it up to 4hp or so.

You could get a larger motor with larger shaft and put your current clutch on a jackshaft, but that costs of fabrication and parts will probably outweigh the cost of a new clutch.

theres a wealth of knowledge about that on this site. search through posts for stuff like shaving eyebrows and advance timing keys. basically all motors will benefit from the same improvements. different carbs and a better exhaust. just look around. its all here somewhere just takes a little to sift through it all.

Look around on craigslist and also just look around. I found a 2.5 hp engine someone was throwing away. Also, found on old snowblower someone was tossing out. I ripped it apart just for the engine. I have collected four engines this way. Just be patient.

i vote that you keep the 2hp and put that straight pipe on, and that might give you about another 1/2hp, but it all depends. modifying an old engine like that to extremes doesnt make that much sense. you might end up saving money if you get the HF 6.5hp.
