i might. at least as a back up if my cent. clutch poops out

You will go through a couple cent clutches before that wet clutch gave out. Just my opinion. With the right gear ratio, that wet clutch should have you flying.....
All the rental track that have "race karts" use a 9hp Honda and a wet clutch. The karts around here hit 50+ mph.... Gotta pass a "driving test" to be able to drive one. They are insanely quick and super fun to drive. And little to no maintenance on the clutch. A cent clutch requires a drop of oil every few hours of riding time, or you burn out the brass sleeve.

do you think they gear their karts to make up for the reduction

Well, yeah! I will call a couple guys I know who work or worked at the place I'm referring to. Maybe they can give me the low down on how their karts are set up..... What sprocket tooth counts are being used.

okay! i'm really wanting to go with a 5:1 ratio so at the moment that'd mean i would need a 25 tooth sprocket so.. uh... 😅 something else has gotta change too

I think you'll be better off swapping the sprocket to #40 and run that. It'll take the guess work out of it. I don't know if #428 will run on a #40 sprocket or if a #40 will work on a #428, but I'd rather just swap the one off for a #40 and call it good.

well, i ordered a 3/4 bore clutch assuming (my first mistake) that the shaft on my lifan honda clone would be the same as the predator.. lo and behold it is not. the shaft on the lifan is just slightly larger than the 3/4 of the predator.. but it is just ever so slightly bigger.

I wanna see that.
My Lifan Honda clone is 3/4. The Hondas are 3/4 Hence "Clone" you should be 3/4.

the lifan website says that it has a 3/4 output shaft but i may have an older model then the one they offer now. however, i can't imagine that they would have different output shaft sizes.. my 3/4 bore clutch is just ever so slightly too small

Well you do not have 20mm threaded or 5/8 threaded. So if you gave any of the 3 LF-168-F2
It says .75 that is 3/4" Should fit.
I don't mean to argue, You have it in your hand and it dont fit, But...I Dunno

Do you have a digital or dial caliper on hand? If so, measure the shaft.

Even a tape measure or ruler would work.

I have a feeling that you are just dealing with very tight machining tolerances. and therefore they are 2 exact sizes. Possibly just needing a tiny little bit of sanding. Then it will slide right on.

I will look into it. For now, I'm just gonna work with the wet clutch and try to gear around the reduction
