Hello!!!

I have a 2005 Roketa 200cc quad that I have recently purchased. I don't know much about mechanics; but that's why I bought the quad, to learn. It is used, none too gently hahaha. It doesn't run, the guy I got it from said that it was a starter solenoid problem. Is there a way to test that? or would it be best to just buy a new one and replace it? Also is there a better forum that someone knows of for this issue? I did a google search but I could only find name brand quad forums, and this being a chinese quad I dont want to open up that particular can of worms I just want to be able to use it haha.

Thanks,
HB

that selenoid relay is only 10 bucks and rarely go bad
better see if something cause it like chaffed wire leading to battery on either side cause leading to from battery is hot all time and other is hot as well when button is pushed so
check it out closely

:iagree: The chance that the solenoid is the problem is around 10%; more than likely it's either
-battery leads
-bad earth
-trigger wire from starter switch
-the starter switch itself
-an isolator switch

Just rip it all apart and google every peice if you don't know what it is, then try puting it together and if you can you will be a pro at how a quad works.
You can also buy a DVOM or a test light for wires.

is there a kick or pull starter on it? If it was mine I would try to manually start it with pull starter or kick starter if it has one, if not you could pull start it behind a vehicle. Get a tow rope and attach it to the front of the quad and the back of the tow vehicle. If it has a manual clutch put it in second or third and get up to a little speed and let the clutch out. If it is an auto clutch pull up on the shifter like you are about to go into 2cd (or 3rd) and hold it up while you get to speed and then drop it into gear. Of course make sure the key is on in the run position and the gas is turned on. Make sure the gas in it is fresh. etc.

I would do this to see if the engine runs before I started messing with the starter. It may smoke and need a rebuild or have bad noises or something. When you buy from someone you don't know you never know what you are getting. ya know?

If it is indeed the solenoid you can make a wire jumper from the battery to the wire going from the positive side of the solenoid to the battery side and see if the starter turns.
