So ive been rebuilding this yerfdog 3202 from just a frame. I bought a 420cc predator anx a 40 series torque converter for it. Ive installed both and i cant get the torque converter to stop engaging at idle. Ive messed with idle speed and the alignment of torque converter. Any ideas?

Is the belt loose with the engine off? Have you checked the center to center spacing between the crank and the driven shaft? My first guess is that your belt is to tight, but I'm going to recommend that you hang out for a bit for someone who's set one of these up to chime in... (My area of expertise is on industrial drive's).....

The belt that I purchased is a 8 3/16" center to center and I have the center spacing at 8 1/8" becuase I though it was tight. It still grabs at idle.

Not that I'm doubting you (I have no idea of your experience, knowledge &/or expertise) but, are you absolutely sure about that measurement? The belt seems a little "snug" to me...

I would make sure that the distances for that belt are correct. It is no good adjusting things to suit what you think looks correct. Comet recommends certain belts for certain distances for a reason. If it is still engaging and the belt and distances are correct, then you have to look at the TC itself and see if there is a problem
