need help with sizeing

Hey tony here so I'm starting to build my first kart but I was wonder what I should go with like engine size kart size stuff like that I'm also wonder what size I should get for my father he's about 260 at 5' 6 so pretty big guy I want my karts for mostly street and alittle off-road and down the line I would like to start racing down at the tracks also should I buy a kit first or buy one ready to go and modify it myself
