need help with recoil,

hi guys, in my attempt to get my mini bike back running that houses a briggs 5hp from a wards tiller, model 130202 type-0209-02 code 7003037 im having trouble with my recoil. with the new starter clutch it catches, but the recoil makes a terrible knocking noise, ive took off the shroud and pulled off the recoil to find that what the starter clutch is pushes into wiggles forwardd and back which is making the screaching, it also has a very hard tire retracting the rope. can anyone point me in the direction of how to fix this? this is the original recoil,

Take the ratchet off, take it apart, don't loose the bb's in it, wash it with carb cleaner or gas, put it back together, and oil it with a little motor oil or gear lube, don't use grease it will cause the bb's to stick, use only oil.

ive already replaced the whole ratchet, its brand new, i know its not the ratchet because we had rope started it. and played with the inside of the recoil to ensure it is, i know the sound of a starter clutch, its diffrent, its the recoil. after you start it and even as you pull the cord it makes the worst noise in the world, and it knocks badley, and it makes you look at it like ****, what the hell is that,

fan is on the flywheel, older engine, the starter rachet pushes onto a peice shaped as the starter ratchet and bolted down to hold it on, but its loose and wiggles, makeing said noise

EDIT- Looks like it would benefit from a disassemble-clean-lube type treatment.

No need to take it apart, spray it out with carb cleaner, and squirt a little motor oil underneath the rope wheel, push the push the tabs down a little tighter, wipe a little oil on that side.

and for God sake clean and lube the ratchet it is the one making the screeching noise.
Oh and make sure the grill isn't hitting anything on the housing.

If that don't fix it, it's too far gone and you need to replace the recoil and ratchet, but I have confidence that all the above will fix it, I've done it a million times.

BTW that's one of the reasons the use to pull the recoils off the raptors, that and because if drag, and wear in the ratchets at those high rpm.

Still needs oil. Thats like saying I bought a new motor with no oil, so it dosent need oil.

plus i heard it was bad to lube them.and that they need only cleaned. there not lubed from factory are they?

mines a genuine briggs, straight from the factory, no oil, i was instructed not to use oil because it makes things stick to them

Do not use grease in the ratchet it will cause the ball bearings to stick, only use oil in it, they have an oil seal on them.
and oiling the recoil won't hurt a thing.

i say don't use any oils until its a last resort. clean it first.
