Hello, i was thinking of building a Motorized Drift Trike with the front of a bmx bike, i would like some help on my journey of building it. My budget is $350. Here are some questions:

1. What kind of engine to get? the frame should be light and i kinda want to go 45-50mph (Without drifting on it at those speeds).

2 What sould i use for the frame? I want it to hold at least 300 pounds and be strong enough to not break if i have an accident.

3. How wide should i make it? I want it to be wide enough so it wont roll (Obviously). But i dont want it to be to wide to where it looks ugly.

Thats all the questions i have for now i will update when i have started on this project.

if you have not already go out on to the web and look at some build logs so you can get an idea for what your getting in to. Your trike is decently under budgeted. your live axle alone will cost you 230 dollars. add the 6.5hp engine youll most likely be using and a clutch or cvt if you dare too use one. with that you have already gone past your budget.

Ok i see now, you said Live Axle alone so it confused me. I have an engine i can use its a little 80cc i have in storage and has a fairly new clutch. I know i probably wont get the speeds i want but that is fine until i get a more powerful engine. Ive been asking some friends and some of them do have old bikes that they dont use anymore, is the steel used on bikes gonna be strong enough?

They already have bends in them. When ever metal is bent some is getting compressed and the other side stretched. Buy heavy duty stock from a metal company around your town

Look for an old BMX bike on Craigslist with pegs and front brakes. metal recycler, metal section at the landfill.
Engine $100
Clutch and chain$50
Axle kit$200-$350
Bike $50
Seat $20

45-50 mph is just dumb (no offense), realistically 25 mph
