need help with a live axel setup

im brand new to all of this kart stuff but am very eager to learn so i am asking for some help here.

ive looked around on some sites and im having trouble finding what i need.

i got a kart for pretty cheap and i want to put a live axel on it. i need the axel a hub for the sprocket and want to put a disk brake on it too. im weigh 260 and i want this thing to be able to handle some of my bigger friends to so i want at least a 1" axel if not bigger. what im having trouble with is finding the axel with a keyway in it for the sprocket and brake hub, and how do ya fix the wheels to it? just with a nut? im going to be tearing down this frame soon so i can get some pics up if need be.

Oh i measured what i have now and ita about 35" from out side to outside of the wheels now.

some links of parts that would be best for this would be very helpful.

i would try an atv axle, strong enough and if you get it from a junkyard you could get the brake and sprocket carrier too for say 5-10 dollars.

I have less experience than most on the board but I'd say that a 1" axle is plenty stout for any single-rider street kart.

what im trying to find is something like a package with the axel, sprocket hub, and a disk brake hub. maybe with wheels too.

not to sure why nobody has helped out. lots of views.

r12, im not sure if its you or someone else that already asked about the package deal, but for the most part you wont find a kit with everything in it. Its better to buy in pieces anyways, that way you get it just like you want it.

It will be about 100 for an 1" axle, sprocket+hub, bearings and mounting plates from BMI. Thats where I got my liveaxle setup.

northerntool.com carries all of that stuff too, but I don't know how their prices compare. I think you can get a sprocket that is keyed to the axle so you don't need a hub. I don't know if you can get a disc brake rotor like that though. Do whatever it takes to avoid having to weld it all together - you'll regret it sooner or later when you need to move or replace something.

Northern tool=big money.

Most sprockets bolt to a hub, but there are a few that come welded to a hub already.

Northern tool is pricey and some of their sprockets and parts are barely even useable. If anyone herelives near Milwaukee I have a 48 inch live axle and some sprocket and hub parts CHEAP..All new Northern stuff that was installed and removed without even being used
