Hi everyone new guy here to the go cart world was wondering if anyone to help me set it up not sure of a few things 1 is can the driven be mounted either in front or the back of the drive I don't have any room for it behind the motor can it be mounted in the front on Jackshaft i'm not sure if that would work. Second question is I have a 16 hp duromax engine what would be a good torque converter to buy for that. And I'm not sure how to set up the ratio on the sprockets.

40 series would be the converter you are looking for; and since the diver and driven would still be turning in the same direction, as long as you have clearance up front, you should be able to have it clocked that way.

If you've ready any other posts here, you'll know the deal about gearing, and how it's dependent on a couple things; tire diameter, projected outcome, overall weight, etc. Comet is going to take care of half of your gearing for you, as they will only offer so many options to begin with. So, a little extra info on your setup should get you squared away pretty quickly.

Welcome!

They only sell so many gears with their converter. I think for the 30 series, you're only going to find a 10-11-and maybe a 12?

Now, you can find other sizes for the jackshaft, but the need, more than likely, won't be there.

I guess one more thing to think about, too, as far as clearance up front for the driven, would be the distance from the driver that this clearance exsists; and thus belt availability.

OK. You are going to need a Comet 40 series. We have established that. Look at THIS for some info on it.

You will probably get a 12T sprocket with the TC. You could run a chain straight from the TC jackshaft to the axle. You would need about a 72T sprocket for that.

The ideal is to get at least a 6:1 ratio for your gearing. That means TC sprocket/axle sprocket for a straight TC to axle setup. If you are using more gears on the jackshaft, it goes like this

(JS IN/TC sprocket)*(Axle/JS out)
