Yes. Sprockets are made to accommodate a specific pitch of chain, meaning the distance between the rollers of the chain. So the more teeth on the sprocket, it naturally needs to be a larger diameter.

It just slides on the main shaft, most have integral broached keys....

If anything I think your going to need to be more specific?

Seriously? I'm not surprised no one has responded to this; if you can't install a clutch without asking for instructions, GIVE UP NOW! This is, seriously, the easiest procedure when it comes to dealing with go karts; slide the clutch on the shaft, put a bolt in the end of the shaft, DONE!...

Unless, of course, there's an issue we're unaware of; what exactly are you having trouble with?

Ok I just got confused due to how the clutch was installed when I got the cart. Looks like they jammed a key in it to stop it from sliding up and down here is picture.

Do I need to lube the shaft before I insert it into the hole?

See hole, see shaft. Insert shaft in hole. No innuendo, please.

That exactly what I said....

What seems to be the problem???

Yeh, I have to agree! I just don't believe what I'm reading so far.

No, that other key isn't nessisary... Why was it there in the first place??? Who knows...
The shaft has a bolt hole for putting a fine thread bolt and washer to hold the clutch on.

The clutch itself has an integral broached key meant to engage the keyway on the shaft.
It wouldn't hurt to lightly grease or spray the shaft before assembly, just dot get the lube on the clutch shoes/drum...

Should I get turf or knobby tires for the back
Plan on riding it off road on hard dirt and maybe a little on grass and cemet.

Got any new pics?

Just get some turf saver tires and be done with it. They will give you the best of several worlds.

The tires that came with the kart, if they can still be utilized, are your best bet. They were in good shape, seemingly.
I think you might be stuck trying to make the world’s most perfect kart with all new, pristine parts, and while admirable, it is slowing you down. Use what you have until it’s “all used up”, then buy new.

There’s no dishonor in using used tires! :p
