Hi,
I just got my first go kart in a trade for my old bike and Im looking for help identifying what model it is. The previous owner took great care of it and says its a Manco 485 but doesnt remember the other 2-3 digits. I looked for a number plate all over the floor panel but theres nothing there. It has a Tecumseh 195cc ohh60, also a torque converter and a live axle. I looked on gokarts-r-us and cant identify which 485 model it is. All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Seat was all the way back but I checked again and still don't see anything but black paint. If there's somewhere else I could look for the plate, let me know, or if anyone wants more pics to aid in identifying it I can take more any time.

Hey codebreaker. I have the same problem as you. I have a Manco 485, but not sure exactly which one.

I contacted American Sportworks (I think they bought Manco at some point) and asked them how to ID the go kart. Here's their reply:

"The 485 model karts were manufactured by Manco, who, unfortunately, went out of business in 2007. The diagrams listed on our website were left over from them when they closed. We have heard that the model number was put on the floor pan by the seat. If the tag is still there, the model number should be on it."

Not much help, but it's a start. I'd say our best hope is that someone can identify them from the pictures we posted.

Best of luck.

As I replied to RickyTick''s thread and Landuse just did to this one.....the real question is why? ??????

See.....I'll bet you don't know the paint code on the car you drive.....but do you need to????? Only if you need to match the paint color, -right???? But if the door sticker is gone....then trying to find the code is a waste of time and better served by going backwards. ....match the paint by other means and then......if necessary match the paint color to the code.....

So .....first you need a reason for why you need the model #......if it's for parts....you probably don't need to know exactly. .....and it's way more helpful and easy to fill out your profile and ask for the parts you need. .....if we know where you are and what you need. ....we can get it done

Don't sweat the small stuff.......
