So I just got my 8hp Briggs engine running for the first time and I love it so much except when I get the **** shocked out of me because I don't know how to wire in my kill switch. I have a ground wire that's supposed to go into my magneto but I was told I didn't need it without a kill switch. But I don't know what store I should get the wires at. So help on that is needed plus some instructions on how to wire that together would be nice so I don't **** anything else up lol other than that my engine is good but I need a bolt that goes onto the live axle for my wheel (will post pics in the morning of everything) its a 3/4 in live axle so any help on what store I could get that at would be much appreciated as well. Lastly I need a key for that same wheel. I've been told you can get those at menards and lowes but I've also heard that if its not axle steel its not gonna be very safe so any help on where to get that would be pretty great too. Thank you for the help in advance and btw I'm not ordering **** online so I need stores thatd have them.

Well I could tell you the stores near me. But since you have no profile location and this is a worldwide forum. Nobody knows what stores thatd have them.

I went to Lowe's to get all my go kart hardware. I got them fancy Grade 8, yellow zinc-coated nuts bolts and washers. That is my recommendation.

I live in central Illinois, Decatur area and no I don't wanna drive 420 to get a **** part lol no I don't drive high because I currently have nothing to drive, yet. :backtotopic: I figured Lowe's would be a good idea but didn't know if they would have everything I'd need. Why some of you gotta be *******s tho I don't know anyone else I could ask and I live at least 20 miles from any kind of hardware store and money is short right now so I was just hoping for suggestions. Also dont know if id need to order a key for my axle or if I could just get one from. Lowe's or Menards or something.

Any wire will do bro! I would suggest writing out a nice parts list and calling around, if you don't know whether or not you'll need it, ask us. Key stock is on the Lowes site, but call your local store to be safe :D

Well normally you'd think you'd be happy to help because like other foul mouthed adolescents like myself I could be selling drugs, robbing people, and getting females pregnant but instead I'm learning the mechanics of different machines and trying to fix up a go kart. Sorry if I cuss a bit it's a habit of mine and sorry if I smoke weed I have horrible stomach cramps that don't ease without me dulling the pain with marijuana because my doctors won't give me anything that'll work. I remember you being so friendly and helpful on my last post what crawled up your *** and died since then? Don't wanna be helpful don't comment. Thank you everyone else who was actually helpful and stayed on topic I have a few more questions but im just gonna delete this thread and make a new one.

One more thing, I've checked the key stock on Lowe's but it just said machine key stock it didn't say if it was axle steel I dont know if that necessarily matters but Id rather not get a key that'll break on me because it wasnt strong enough

It's the same, steel is steel, just the carbon content and heat treatment that changes it, but although keys undergo a lot of torsion, the distance of key material between the shaft and the part (sprocket, brake disk etc..) being so small makes it very difficult to be "ripped apart" so to speak..

here, I made you this absolutely beautiful infographic.
