I am not too sure what karts go for there by you, but $130 sounds reasonable. It doesn't look home made to me. If it comes with the quad parts as well, it sounds good.

You might even be able to get the engine working. Did the seller say it doesn't work, or what is wrong with it?

all they said was that it does not start
also the quad wheels would have to be adapted to fit the frame
i don't know by how much but would that be hard?

thanks

It shouldn't be too hard. All you might need to do is change hubs to fit the rim bolt pattern. I don't think the frame itself will need to be modified

For that price, buy it, or tell me where it is so I can.

Put simply, it's all there. Even if you have to fix everything on it, it's a good starting point.

Re: the engine: Do you know what it is? If it turns over & has compression, the worst it can be is the magneto coil; best case it has a dirty carby or a dead spark plug.

Even if it doesn't have compression, it's still not that hard to fix. Worst case scenario, get a new engine.

That's a centrifugal clutch sitting above a sprocket (look closely) which is actually a bad idea because the chain cant be adjusted

Well, that comes down to how bad the engine is; you may not have a choice lol.

No, not recommended. I misspoke earlier, You can adjust it (if the mounts are elongated) but, with the clutch directly above the sprocket, how do you remove the chain (if needed) without pulling half the kart apart?

I would guess that this is not the original engine. The kart itself doesn't look home made; I've seen a quite a few very similar to this on the forum but not with that type of engine.

That looks a 2stroke engine. I think you can get it running again.
Buy the kart, clean it. Buy a chain and go driving!

I don't see why you need to pull half the kart apart to remove the chain? What setup would you recommend for this kart?
(Just wondering)

Because the clutch is directly above the sprocket. I read here somewhere (& I agree) you should always mount your engine so the clutch is in front (preferably) or behind the axle sprocket so the chain runs at an angle (but do you think I can remember the reason that was given :roflol: )

If it was me, I would move the engine forward about 4" (100mm)

At a guess it would be so that you can slide your engine back and forward slightly to increase and decrease chain tension, it would be far less effective if it was directly above the sprocket and might need longer mounting holes

That's what I was thinking too. Plus, with the engine in front of the axle it provides better weight distribution

Yea you can adjust it by sliding it on the mounts too, its just that due to the geometry it would be far more effective if it was also slightly forward. Depends on how much adjusting you need though.

I live just up the road and go to school with fallenleopard.....It will be powered by a Victa, according to her, and I agree haha. Unless the engine is repairable and it ends up being better than the Victa. I've looked into it and we both agree that it appears to be a Dragon made kart. Dunno if they were just an aussie brand though. It's also made me decide to get my kart finished lol.

Offer him $75 for just the kart. Pass on that other stuff. That looks like a nice vintage kart. Find out what you have before you go adding quad wheels and stuff.

That would be a sick kart restored just how it is. No joke man. Just sick!!!!!!!

About the moter above the engine? Post a pic of how the engine bolts to the frame? Does it look like any mods were done there? Or does it look like an engine could have been in another spot before? Anything like that?

If this is a factory made kart you need to do some research. If it home brew I would love to see some more pics of this one.
