If the dealership said that, chances are it's correct so, it must be a volume problem. You didn't happen to ask how much you should use, did you?

Fowler is correct about using the right oil for your bike engine, The oil must have a JASO API rating for wet clutch service this would be a motorcycle specific oil.

how much oil do 250cc engines usually take ?
also the guy who told me about the oil type said it could be the rings but im not sure he might be just saying that to get business :lolgoku:

Most later model bike engines will have the fill capacity in ML on the clutch cover housings.

Usually, no. Everything expands with heat so, naturally, everything contracts when cold. As a result, even cold, thick oil can ecsape past worn rings & get burnt in the combustion chamber creating blue smoke. As the engine warms up, the rings, piston & bore expand creating a tighter fit & the oil thins out making it easier to be scraped away by the rings. Some oil will still get past but, not as much.

You have the opposite problem, the blue smoke is appearing once the engine is warm. The reason for that is as the engine heats up, so does the oil &, like everything else, it expands as well as thinning out.

There are three rings in a 4 stroke set, 2 compression rings & an oil ring, The oil ring is designed to scrape excess oil back down the bore into the crankcase but, it can only do so much. If there is an excess of oil in the crankcase, more will be splashed up the bore, the oil ring will scrape away most of it but, will still leave an excess which is then scraped up into the combustion chamber by the compression rings & burned, creating blue smoke

ok guys so Im just after changing the oil in the dirt bike
used 10w40 semi-synthetic
1 litre
started the bike let it warm up them went for a spin but didn't go crazy just yet drove around slow for a while then I brought it for a good drive
bouncing off the limiter in every gear:lolgoku:

didn't notice any smoke
but then just when I was just about stoped like idling it started to puff smoke again ,
it only happens when idling
????

If u are sure u have the correct volume of oil

Then it may well be the rings

Just run it and watch the oil level

Likely it will use f/a
If it's using a bit then u will have to fix it
If it's only doing it at idle then just run it

Running it to the limiter won't be helping the situation

EDIT
What have u got as far as crank case ventilation
Does it dump into the air box

Which bit don't u get

The crank case vent bit

There's a hose running from either the crank case
The gear box
Or the valve cover

It stops the seals blowing out from changing crank case pressure

This line must go to a filtered point
Either a catch can with its own filter or commonly they reroute it back to the air box

If the engine is over filled of mounted on the wrong angle then oil will be forced up the PCV
Tube and into the air box

Edit button
Dam it

Take the hose off the air box
Run the hose into a clear plastic bottle and leave the cap off

Go for a good long run
Try to stay on the road or away from execute dust

Then let it sit and idle for a bit

If there's an issue then there will be oil in the bottle when u are finished
