Hello everyone I have been working on my predator 212 swapped motorcycle. In the past thread I wrote on I was working on getting the engine to start again. It does run Now but the engine is running way too rich at the moment. It wont idle and is blowing black smoke out the exhaust.

The adjustment screws didn't do anything to help so I think the issue is I messed up my float height while cleaning the carb. Unfortunately I don't know what the original spec for the carb is and I cant find anything about it online. https://www.gopowersports.com/22mm-mikuni-carburetor-chinese/ This is the carb that I purchased. Does anyone else run this carb and happen to know what the float spec should be or does anyone know where I can find the specs for this carb?

I tried contacting Go Power Sports directly a couple days ago but I haven't been able to get through on the phone and no response yet to email.

Does an inch look like it could be correct?
A VM22 should be set at 24-26mm according to this chart. Hit the middle, call it an inch.

I think you have a knockoff (if not a clone) of a Mikuni VM22-133. So check out the specs for the VM22-133 for reference. It will probably be worth noting what jets are installed in the carb. I personally would look at jetting before the float height unless I knew for certain that the float height was out of whack.

But from what I can tell.... 25mm to answer your question.

If you need help with how to measure and/or set the height.

Thanks for the info I think you might be right about it potentially having the same float level as the vm-22 it is definitely a knockoff though so I was unsure if the float levels will be interchangeable. I do know that the jetting is not correct to the motor and I have a full set of jets for the carb to try but I have been told that the main jet wont change your Idle so I am going to focus on just getting it to idle before I deal with my top end fueling Issue I was having earlier.

The engine did run before I cleaned the carb with the settings it is currently on so It should work. That is the only reason I would suspect that I messed up float height. I also had a fuel leak out the vents and the air filter earlier which is another symptom of high float but I took it apart and put it back together and that stopped.

So Im gonna use this chart and see which is close to the current spec that it is on tomorrow to see if its close because I would assume that would mean I had the right specs unless I somehow got it very far off of spec.

Well it is correct to set float height correctly before moving on to jetting.

The main jet has no influence on idle, but the pilot jet does. The pilots main function is to meter the air/fuel ratio at and right off idle. 12.5 to 20 is the pilot range I would be looking at

the carb was set with one side at 19 and the other side at 20 mm. I set the carb floats to 24 on both sides and it is running way better now. Its even revving to full throttle so my top end flooding issue I was having was likely just because of the messed up floats. Its still running a little on the rich side but its working pretty well now. Thanks for your help.
