Hello Everyone!
Any kit suggestions for my son's cart would be greatly appreciated. Here are two views of what I am working with. It's a one inch axle and currently has a new 4 inch band style on the out board side of the driver side. My problem/issue is that I cannot get enough "take up" to close enough around the drum so I am not stopping the cart! When I look at disc kits I cannot determine what will mount to what I am working with and this is holding us back from having rip @ss fun. Any suggestions are welcome and thanks all. Happy New Year to all!

Those kits are good... Need to make sure you have the right axle diameter that fits. Typically they are a 1"OD.

You have a bar that seems to be right in the typical spot where you need you brakes to be... Might have to cut and relocate it near the engine, or for the most part remove it...
Your going to need the room for the caliper to fit.

Also... What motor is that... You seem to have your clutch hanging way over the end of the shaft...

Thank you! That is an Ironton 420 I picked up at Northern Tool for $210. The OD of the axle is 1 inch.

Again, the input is greatly appreciated.

Is there an added bracket I need to order, as well? For this kit listed in the pic above?
Thx

bar to remove

Are you talking about the bar in this pic I marked with red?
Also, the circle red marking is were to mount the caliper?

Yes that bar is in the way.. Or will be...

That kit appears to have a caliper mount, however you'll need to fabricate a bracket for that to fit to.

What is the gear ratio you currently have(ie the tooth counts of each sprocket, clutch and rear)?

Depending on that, you may have problems with your clutch, as in you'll burn it out quickly.
Also you may also be pushing the limits of the capability of that clutch, due to the HP of said motor.

As for the brakes, on my thread of the later pages, my other bike has some good pics as to what I had to do to mount that exact brake caliper... Just some thinking and a little fab work.

So the 420 is overkill? I guess I could return it and get the HB Predator everyone runs. Dang it.
I can't win.

420 will be fine and fun. It just may be at the horse power limit for the clutch is all. Might have to get a stronger clutch or CVT.
