I'll try to make this short and sweet. I have a Honda GX140 engine with a couple of problems. I've decided to make a kart with it using a rolling frame to start out. I've found several frames:
The first has everthing but engine, brakes, clutch(sprocket, chain) & seat($80). The second was fully working, just needed a carb clean, but was 150 miles away from me($100). The third is what I want. It has a drag seat and disc brake(no caliper), needs a clutch(sprocket, chain) & engine of course($150, I'd go OBO for $125 though).
The question would be is there a place to find cheap gokart seats, or should I hunt for a riding mower seat or should I get the kart with the nice seat already installed? Reason being that I don't want to go cheap & end up spending $30+ on a little seat.
Now for the engine issues. The engine has been in store, not started for over a decade first of all. Me and my dad got it to cough twice but it woudn't start. We suspect the spark plug needs to be replace because of carbon build up. I also think I need carburetor cleaner. Is there a cheap carb cleaner out there(less than $20)? This is a super budget build, so I'm cutting corners where I can.
If you've beared with me for this long, there is a couple of other questions I had.
Is there a cheap parts store or place to buy a sub-10 dollar chain, a sub-15 dollar hub, and a sub-10 dollar 40T sprocket?
Also, it's most likely going to be a live axle. What exact parts do I need for the live axle? I know I need a sort of hub to bolt the sprocket to the axle. What would the correct term for that hub be? Now the funny noob question of the day: Will minibike calipers work on my kart?
Thanks so much. Even a single answer will help me on my way.
