Need advice with sluggish Monster Moto 80

Hey guys. I bought a used monster moto 80 over the winter for my little guy. In pretty decent shape. Ridden but not abused. Runs well.

I got it out for the first real time over the weekend and showed him how to ride it. He did great but the bike and had blast. However the bike wasn't pulling him very well. It would do ok on flat ground but wouldn't pull up an incline much at all. I know it's not a very powerful bike to begin with but I think it should be able to get an 80 pound kid started around the yard.

I'm new to working on minibikes. I don't really know where to start. Everything visually looks ok to me. The throttle seems a little stiff but everything operates as it once you twice it. Chain looks good. I haven't looked at the sprockets. Should I? I don't really know a lot about these clutches but it also seems to be working normally.

Any suggestions on what things I should take a look at? I want to do some general maintenance on it anyway. I'll change the plug and air filter material. Also check and probably replace the brake pads. I'm sure cleaning the carb won't hurt and might help with the sluggishness too.

I appreciate anything advice or comments you can give. Thank you in advance. I'm really looking forward to fixing up this thing for and with him.

The motor is an 80cc Lifan 2.5hp.

I know the 79cc engine isn't enough to be fun for a full sized adult.
My friend had the same bike. He saw how cool I was and how much fun I had so he went out and purchased a minibike without asking my recommendation.

He ended giving the bike to his nephew, but I imagine it was still underpowered.

Yeah it's definitely not quite enough for an adult. But I have a coleman CT200 which I modded a bit. It's plenty for me and his mom to run around on. I just need to breathe a little more life into the 80 for him.

I'm also been considering putting a 212 predator in the coleman and throwing the 196 from the coleman into the MM80. Might be my best bet.

Snapped a picture. It's open although the whole area clearly needs a clean up.

here are a couple pics of the bike, engine and throttle assembly. I ordered all replacement springs for that. Not sure it'll make any difference. And again, the whole area needs a cleaning.

Shoot. Really? They show up fine for me. I uploaded them the sites photo uploader. I'm going to host them elsewhere and edit the photo. They might be large but hopefully they'll show up.

Good. Glad they're working now. I cut them down on a size a little more and reedited. Hopefully it's a little more browser friendly now.

Yesterday evening we took the bikes out in the yard again. Before hand I replaced the spark plug and also tried my best to clean up the foam air filter (I have new one coming next week.) Off the bat the bike idle seemed lower and the motor would stall out. I adjusted the idle screw which raised the idle nicely. The bike seemed to have a little bit more pep once I did this.

Tomorrow I'm going to clean out the carb and hope this gives it a little bit more of a boost too. Otherwise I'm out of ideas. Will probably go ahead and put the colemans 196 in it once the little guy has a little more seat time with 80cc.
