Depends on the size of the buggy. If you're thinking of a one seater, light to intermediate duty, buzz the back lot & hang out with the friends and neighbors, then the 212 cc Predator is a great bang for the buck; many members use them, and also swear by them. Your speed capabilities will be determined by your tire size, buggy weight (w/ rider), and weather you use a torque converter or a centripetal clutch (AKA centrifugal clutch).

At this point, we need more information; and at this point I have to give you the regular :welcome2:, and ask you to A] please fill out/ in your profile, and B] give us more detail on what you have in mind, because when we ran the poll awhile back, the one thing we all seemed to have flunked in school was mind reading....

Well thank you for the welcome and i will be filling out my profile soon. But back to the project. i was thinking somewhere along the lines of a single seated sand-rail/go kart hybrid im actually trying to make it as small as possible. the speeds that i am looking for are between 30 and 40mph if possible. i was wondering what kind of setup would allow that? as an idea for the suspension i will have a strong built trailing arm rear suspension...or something along the lines of a cv axle independent rear suspension. and for the front i will do a dual a-arm type suspension. i appreciate all of the help. something like pictured below but with a suspension. thank you

I see no pic(probably has something to do w/ not filling out your profile)... yet.

There was an 'A' n 'B' list given for you to do. You seemed to have gone dyslectic on the 'procedure' of how things are done...

So... welcome... but fill out your profile before anything else on here...

Well...IMO... Using a HF212 on a 'buggy'... AND you wanna go 30-40 mph? You WILL wanna get a TC/CVT(Comet 30 series). The recommended gear ratio for one of those is 6:1. Depending on the wheel size, overall weight and terrain... its mathematically possible to drop down to a 5:1 w/ lil to no issues(determined by wheel diameter)... n go 40ish mph w/ 16" wheels.

I know this to be true cause thats the ratio I run n I do 50 mph(but I have no governor... n I done a few other things... hehe).

so a torque converter would work for that. ok. and does anyone have any more powerful engine recommendations? can be anywhere from 100 to 400 dollars. i would like to go all out on a mini buggy.

If you wanna "go all out", get a motorbike engine; many have had great success with smaller engines (up to 400cc), some have had success with mid-range engines (400-750cc)

While it's generally frowned upon to post dual threads, I wonder if in this instance it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask the same question in the engine and clutches section. ...I don't know about moving it, because there may be a few more questions on other areas before build thread time..

What say Fab?

Not a bad idea, let's see what the OP has to say

If the OP has other questions, there's no reason he can't start another thread...
