Hey guys, I need some help choosing an engine for my shifter kart build.

Some of the options:

Cbr/gsxr 600 inline 4 ~ 100ish hp.

crf 450x single ~ 45ish hp

ninja 650/cbr 500 parallel twin. 45-70 hp

Must have electric start and lighting support.
I don't particularly want to rear mount the engine/stretch chassis, due to the fact of ruining geometry. So I'm steering away from the 600 inline 4's.

I already have a 2006 crg 32mm kart, working on a front brake setup atm the moment. So please don't disregard this post as a horsepower silly one hit wonder.

Also no two strokes. Let me know your opinions, thanks guys.

A KX250X. not kx250.the 250X is a Competition engine but is pretty much the same thing as a kx250f engine for just trail riding. do you see the valve cover. lol

Thanks for the input guys. I'm having a bit of trouble sourcing one. Does anyone know any good bike wreckers in AUS, It seems it's going to be about 2k in purchase and import a crf450x complete engine from USA. Does anyone know much about the wr450 engines or kawasaki and suzuki or ktms variants of these trail bike engines?

Cheers.

Off the top of my head, no...

You'll probably find that the ones who will readily ship wil be a bit more expensive (NOT including the shipping...)
