I was given a motorcycle frame. It is older, but cool looking, has good tires, brakes, lights, everything to be road legal. No engine though. What would be any issues with just making up a mount and bolting on a 420cc predator and battery, with a 40 series comet and 12 tooth drive sprocket with say 35 tooth or so driven? Potentially 80 mph or so, the 420cc would have the power to move that. Wouldn't that be a fun little bike to cruise streets on?

You should gear it for 40 mph, which is reasonable. Anything beyond that, and you will diminish the low end torque it is supposed to have.

Theoretical max speed is great, but so is acceleration. 40 mph gives you a balance of speed and acceleration.

It's an old '80s Suzuki frame. Has a salvage title, and I plan to get it licensed. I don't care to ride it on the highway but it'd be cool to cruise these back roads out where i live in SW Ohio

If you are going to put an industrial engine in there, i have a feeling that you will struggle to get it licenced.

Have you measured the engine area to see if a Predator would even fit? I would gear it for at least 6:1. The way you are thinking gives it a 2.9:1 ratio. That will NOT work.

Post some pics for us to see what you are working with
