I'm looking to pick up a clutch for my briggs 6.5hp that I just bought.

My friend has the Comet 1" clutch from bmikarts.com and I've heard its ok but not the best. His cost $40. Is this the best I'm going to get in my price range? Anyone have any other suggestions(or are there any you're willing to sell??)

Help! Almost done with this kart. Can't wait to get it going

**Edit: Forgot to mention. I have a 60t sprocket and 18" rear tires.

A Briggs 6.5 with a 1" shaft, somehow that doesn't seem right. Are you sure its not a 10 hp/305 model?

Comet and Uzusa both sell 1" clutches for under $100. As long as you gear it for say around a 30 mph top speed (not 50 or 60) and your not trying to hill climb your kart, that 1" Comet should hold up fine for awhile.

(that $40 price is really good, they're usualy like $50 to $60 + shipping)

I've got a couple 1" shaft race kart motors and use/recommend this clutch: http://www.kartpartsstore.net/servlet/the-337/The-Noram-Star-Clutch/Detail

lol I have a tecumseh 5hp with a 1" shaft as well.

Its the 900 series, 206cc 6.5hp. I'd love if it were actually 10hp. lol.

I have 18" tires and a 60t rear sprocket. I ordered the Comet 10t clutch so I have a 6.0 ratio. We'll see how it fares.
