What a turd. It's a rust frame held together by a few bits of steel. At least there is the remains of a CVT.

The sad thing is if he was selling it here in Australia he'd probably get that.

That's basically the point I was making when I posted this. Unfortunately, it speaks to the general state of the market around here. Overpriced junk. I die a little inside everytime you guys post a Craigslist link to something really cool and costing less than this... anchor...

Sadly, this guy will probably get argued down to $450 or $400. He might even get his asking price. And we're about on par with USD and AUD... :furious2:

And what is of abundance, is expensive, even though it is abundant. I just found a brand new Chinese kids 110 quad with auto trans. and reverse for $650 with warranty, never ridden, because the guy's kid didn't get good enough grades so he is no reselling his Christmas gift.

EDIT: Here's a link, it's quite funny. http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/rvs/2061036882.html

I dunno dude, I live in southern Ontario and sled engines and CVT's are in the bone yards every time I go for next to nothing. I'm looking for another sled engine and left a 298cc Rotax twin in the yard expecting to see something better soon. Tractors for wheels, tires, seats, steering wheels are in the same yard.

I just completed a Kart using:
340 Rotax twin and the entire snowmobile CVT and jack shaft
lawn tractor tires
lawn tractor steering wheel
steering arms, rod ends, steering shaft, and steady bearing all off the same sled
spindles made from lawn tractor parts modded to accept alum/bronze bushings
I don't have 200.00 into the whole thing, and the most expensive part was the paint (metal-flake electric blue base/clear)

If you look around - you can get some really decent parts for free, or very close to it - even here in canuckland :) The steel to actually build the rest of the Kart shouldn't cost $30.00. That kart in the link is scrap - too many changes required, might as well start over.

That is one scary scary kart, I do like how he calls it running and almost ready.

Its frightening to see what happens on craigslist. We had a customer sell a buggy he built from scratch with a 250cc Yamaha engine for 1200 dollars...

I was actually thinking it wasn't that bad, I guess that just shows the kind of crap I work with.

Thanks

Well, this posting was more about karts for private sale, not junkyard finds. But since you've brought it up, what yard to you go to? If it's not too far out, perhaps I'll take a run out there one day. And- got some pics of yer kart?

I go to Tafts Auto Wreckers in Brighton, lots of guys go to pick parts on Saturdays. I'm uploading some pics right now.
