New guy from NE Ohio! Names Cory, Im planning on building a go kart over the winter months and came on here for some insight.

I basically have no clue what Im getting myself into lol but I think I can handle it. I have a chassis and a engine in mind just not sure what I need in order for it to work...

Whats the best route to take, buy a chassis kit or get a manual and build the frame ourselves? Theres a chassis I like for like $1400, but Im sure we could make one for way cheaper but probably not as good of a design or quality..

Cory, the best route to take, is the one you feel best about. If you have the tools and skills to fab your own, and enjoy it, thats the way to go. On the other hand if you lack the skills, building a go kart is a great way to learn. But then a kit that requires only assembley without welding, will teach you the mechanics, and get you in the seat faster.

Anyway welcome to the fourm, study it for a while, do the search feature, and ask questions. Oh and post pictures of what ever you do, we love pictures.

I can handle it mechanically, its just I cant weld for crap..

Me and one of my co-workers were just talking about it, and I feel a lot better about it. I just need to think of how Im goin to run the clutch lines, mount the brakes and do the steering setup.
