so my friend an i are fixing to start on a go-kart project.
it won't be much of a go-cart though.
more of a sized down rock crawler/mud buggy.
we have rough ideas for the frame
but rlly my question is;
for a two seater hauling both of us (weighing about 130 lbs each)
on uphill trails with rocks, mud and who knows what else
what size motor should we be looking for?
i was thinking like a 250cc four wheeler or dirtbike motor,
low gears and a big sprocket.
how does that sound?

go with a chevy 350 in a jeep with a muncy m22 rock crusher tranny 4 speed of course and slam some 40 inch super swampers on it and its a better then a kart rofl.

If i were you i would use a engine from like a raptor 660 and then add full suspention on it full roll cage.

For something like that, I think I'd be tempted to look for something like a Suzuki Samurai. Strip the body off and build a roll cage,

ya'll are talking about building a car. hahah
i just want something with a little more simplicity.
i like the raptor 660 idea.
but it's hard to find one cheap on craigslist.
i found a nice polaris 500 for under $400
engine works fine it doesnt have any plastics
and the tires are flat, which is perfect.
thats just less work.
i was gna use the suspension, motor, rims,
and some other parts.
maybe use the handbars instead of a steering wheel :)

but my question goes unanswered.

would a 250cc motor work how i want it to?
