Mystery thing

Following along the lines of Russ's "This weeks mystery car" I bring you this: Guess what this huge device with large piping is. Once guessed correctly (or after three strikes) I will reveal what it is and what it's for. The winner, if there is one, will get the satisfaction of knowing that they know what it is.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. It's a turbo charger in a Russian U-boat. It's one of three, each go to one of three massive 6 cylinder diesel engines of about 10ft length each. The three engines are used to charge the batteries that power the electric motors that propel the submarine underwater. The charge on the batteries can last up to 10 days. The U-boat has to surface to run the engines to charge the batteries back up. I'll show more pics later on.

Here's more pics of the sub. All kinds of crazy stuff in there. Knobs and dials and buttons up the butt! Got a pic of four of the 10 torpedos that it can carry. Got one of the top of one of the engines with the head removed. You can see the rockers and the cam. Got one of one of the toilets too! Oh, btw, it's called "The Russian Scorpion".
