Hello all, any help would be greatly appreciated with my condumdrum here... i am currently rebuilding this kart from the ground up... it originally came with metric hubs and 5 inch wheels.... i run a fart kart class and the season has almost ended... i will be upgrading to 6 inch wheels high speed bearings and new sae hubs.... but very curious as to the origin of the frame itself... my pins in the front spindles are slightly bent and would like to order new ones if it is possible. Searched it seems hundreds of pics and cant find one like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

:roflol: thanks Jim ...

Could be nealy anything I'm afraid..
reminds me of an Intrepid chassis.. but that's because of it being orange I'm afraid :(

Just look for stamped numbers .. they're almost all the time on "hidden" parts of the frame, on the bearing retainers, inside the spindle brackets, inside of a tube (well not INSIDE.. towards the karts center of course)
parts that are unlikely to get scratches, dents or anything that can obscure the number.

you get the idea.

If you do not find any number, take some measurements.
like sindle bracket to spindle bracket (front axle width)
chassis width, tube dimensions..
that way it's easier to identify, in case no one comes along who actually KNOWS the kart on first sight.

Well thank you very much and i will be looking for #s in the a.m. and the orange sure looks the same as an intrepid. The torsion bar is unusual and the fact it has no sleeves for nerf bars was also very different... you guys are great!

I thought it looked a little "bare" too, but I've never owned a race kart like those. I have a question... Do the welds look PROFESSIONAL or like don't by CNC welder? Or like maybe some one with pretty good welding skills put together a frame kit...? I've seen one or two kits to build a race chassis like that....

Just curious, why the "upgrade" to 6" wheels/tires & SAE hardware? I doubt it's possible without some adapters, & fab work. Only advantage I can see would be the lower parts costs but if you already have the metric stuff, run that.

Looks to me like the nerf mounts were torched/ground off. Judging by their location, lools like it carried full bodywork, I'm guessing its mid 90's vintage. Check out Comet Kart Sales. They should have almost everything needed to get it back together. Toss a KT100 on it & grin like a fool when you ride it.

Thank you all for your replies... i am upgrading to 6" because we run on a dirt oval as we believe this was strictly a road cart i have no clearance and the seat and frame can drag on an uneven surface... we are required to run only the predator 212 with no mods except govener removal.. the welds are def professional and i did add some tubing for nerfsbut they were not what i wanted so i just cut and ground them off yesterday and will be adding more before i sandblast... you guys are great i didnt think i would get much response...was i wrong

IDK what your goals are, but that is a straight rail sprint frame & will not handle well on a dirt oval. If you're just out for grins, rock on but if you hope to be competitive you will be sorely disappointed.

By no means trying to rain on your parade just setting some expectations.

Paved road courses, left and right turns, hard braking and accelleration.

Here's my local track. www.gopromotorplex.com

To be competitive in oval track dirt you need a whole different setup starting with an "offset" kart such as this: http://www.phantomchassis.com/triton-chassis.html

The LTO world is a little strange to some of us Sprint Kart guy's, its a totally different ball game. About the only thing they have in common is 4 wheels & a single cylinder engine.
