Hi all, it's been some time since ive posted on here, and ive finally got around to the build i've been wanting to do for some time. Now that my duaghter is a little older, ive freed up some time. And now that Ive paid off alot of my debts, I have a little play money! So It has began.

The build entails: the Rear swing arm off of an 4 Wheeler, along with the front control arm mounts off of the same bike.

The bike had and aluminum frame. Wich is why there is steel plate bolted to it,so I have something to build the tub out of.
The front suspension box / control arm mounts have been cut down the middle and all horizontal supports removed. A sheet of 1/4 aluminum plate has been welded onto the mounts to give me somewhere to attach the steel palte to build the frame off of.
Also, The front suspension box has been widened 8 inches,(4in wheel spacers will be used in the rear to get the same widening in the rear.)

The Reason for the wideing is because since the suspension being used is off of a 4 wheeler, and im adding almost 2 ft of length.(As opposed to how far apart the suspension front/rear was on the bike). Is to keep the finished kart from being long with to narrow of a wheel base.

Anyway still much work to go, much more frame to bend.
Any input / Ideas? im open for em!

Also for those who May be wondering how I am gunna be getting the power to the axle , there is a cheesy paint illustration of the rear swing arm mount, and chain oreintation.

The Engine will be mounted (eventually) on top of the swing arm mount/jackshaft box.

Been Making some progress, Not much but it's coming along.
Gotta buy some more frame seeing how I ran out.

Made The pedals, pedals stops, and return spring mounts (after the pic was taken today).

Still much to do, and much to tidy up.

Hopefully it all works out, Front rear Suspension is off of a quad, wich was all aluminum. Wich why I did what I did with the front end. To keep from having to make, swing arm mounts.

There arn't any Vertical frame supports in place yet.
I was Trying to get the main pieces of the frame made, then fill in all the supporting bars.

Hopefully it all works out, only time will tell.
On a side note I had a small piece of metal become lodged in my eye last night while cutting some 3/8 solid bar on my chop saw, that was to be used in extending the tie rods.

I was cutting along as usual on on the saw, it's either a 10 or 12 inch blade (cant remember). when the outer edge of the blade came apart. Somehow a peice of shrapnel came up between the bottom of my safety glasses, and found it's way into my eye.

Its stuck under my top eye lid, and while the pain is minimal it is VERY annoying. I've tried multiple times washing it out with an eyecup, tried flipping my eyelid up, with no avail.
Figured I'd sleep on it to see if it would somehow work it's way out over night, and well.... woke up with a blood shot eyeball.
Going to an optometrist today.

Dont know why the blade failed. It is still fairly new, and the bar was secured in a clamp. And I always cut slow...
spit happens i guess..

The most important thing is you're okay! :cheers2: safety glasses are a must, but, yes spit happens. When doing heavy grinding or cutting like that, safety glasses and then a full face shield. It's hot and cumbersome, but a lot safer than just glasses.
I dig the front end. Did you know that putting it at that angle actually helps the suspension, or is it a happy accident? That thing should ride pretty good!

Yea I always wear glasses, I've got a Arc flash rated face shield, but it mounts on my hard hat.which is a little cumbersome.

I went out today and bought a some ansi rated glasses that have a rubber lip seal around the outer perimeter of them,to prevent this from ever happening again.

And yes through research I found that slight slope at the front make for a smoother rise seeing how the bumps that are absorbed are absorbed slightly more linearly into the shocks.

And that is actually exactly how it came off the quad.
Before Cutting the scrap frame up I took a ton of measurements to ensure the angle would be kept the same when it was on the kart.

Cheers mate
