Hey guys finished fixing up the yz60 for now. For those of you who didnt read my other threads I got this bike of craigslist for 100 bucks, it occasionally started but wouldnt rev. I took everything off the engine and determined the crud in the reed valves was preventing them from closing properly. So I cleaned them out and it started and reved, then shortly died. It turned out there was lots of sand all throughout the intake, so I had to replace it. Other than that everything was is really good condition and all the bike needed was a couple touchups to the black paint and a couple yellow highlights. I converted the old intake cover to replace some of the missing plastics so I wouldnt burn my leg anymore.

anyway, heres the pictures and a walkaround video

Sand in the intake doesnt sound good...hows the cylinder walls/piston? I'm willing to bet some of that sand made its way into the engine.

Bike looks good though.

Ya unfortunetly a little did make it into the cylinder, but the walls and piston are actually pretty good, didnt take a picture unfortunetly. Luckily I think sand got in the reeds when whoever rode it in the sand, which stopped it running and it barely ran after that, so I cleaned it before too much damage was done.

Dude that's a mint old 60! The video really brought back some memories, I know those old air cooled bikes are loud and they vibrate and stink like **** but there's just something about the simple old 2 stroke that I love! Just the smell of 2 stroke exhaust will send me back in time! Good score, hope it treats you well :D
