Hi,
I thought I would make a thread to log the projects I have on this summer (6 more weeks).
I planned to take pictures with my "new" camera, but as some of you may know, it arrived damaged in the post. I need to fix it.
Firstly, I have put a gate on our transport box and painted it up.

I also have my minibike to fit up.
I am installing a tav30 with a sheet backplate. I am then going to use pully drive.

Two questions, 1: Is this enough engine shaft sticking out for the splined hub to go onto?

2: Can I cut the backplate so the belt can get through?

I also need to fix the front forks- I have a design that I plan to put into action today.

The torque converter would not fit unless I removed the gas tank. I decided to use a smaller honda G100 fuel tank, and to mount it here:

I have ordered some fuel hose and an inline filter.

On my kart I have a few projects too.
Firstly I plan to install rear suspension, something like this:

I then plan to install these 19" wheels on the rear:

This leaves me with 2x 14" wheels from the rear that I plan to use on the front. One rim is a bit bent so I bought another wheel with no tread to use the rim from.
I have some front hubs for the 14" wheels.

I plan to use this 12mm threaded bar for my steering linkages to replace the 8mm.

I have some proper rod ends too:
I have some bushes that I plan to drill out to 12mm to use on the ?kingpins?

I have also ordered a load of grease nipples for the steering.

I have a new steering wheel, which is a bit large, so I plan on re doing the steering columb so it is at a different angle.

I may also order some bushings for there, and install a grease nipple.
I ordered a new sprocket and chain from BMI. It is #40 and looks 1,000,000 times better than #219. I have this sprocket- 54t:

and this chain x 3ft:

I plan to use my 10t tav30 sprocket:

But I may need to buy/make an 8t sprocket.
I may paint up my kart with some of this, except not sure on the colour:

And thats about it! I doubt I will get it all done.
I will try and keep this thread updated.

Yep, my dad has a dairy farm with 300 acres.
In the winter it gets rather muddy!
Its fun in the summer when the mud has turned to dust though :)

The bike now has forks on!

Could do with some paint though.
Looks a bit stronger now-

I may need to cut a slot out of the torque converter backplate to fit the belt through- will this be ok?

also, as asked earlier, is that enough shaft sticking out for the splined hub to go onto?
I have also started to make 2x hubs for my kart's new rear wheels. They are made from uber heavy duty 6mm (1/4") sheet compared to the old 3mm things that bent.

I am now using my new samsung st61 camera

Lol, i knew someone was going to say that. I may do, its just a ***** to weld round tubing when you cant turn the bike on it side.
I will grid them down and see if they are strong.

sorry to be " that guy " . not trying to slam your build at all either i think its on the right track , but just remember any structural weld should be #1 priority . you don't want to make a hospital trip because the neck breaks off your bike at full speed. it will be worth it to take the motor off , flip the bike every which way you have to just to make sure you get some good solid welds in on that thing.

Ok, thanks for your concerns for my safety. I will see if I can weld it a little better, maybe tomorrow. I just find it hard to get a continuous bead on round tube when you have to keep turning to stop the weld running off the edge.

Is it ok to cut the torque converter backplate to fit the belt through?

Done some work on my kart. I now have the mahousive (for me) wheels on the back.
I have kept the gearing the same with the old sprockets and chain, and it is AMAZING!
I have lost a little bit of the initial "oomf", but once the motor gets going, so do you!
Its geared for 44mph @ 4500rpm. A little bit high, but the performance is good.
The steering seems better now too, but that might be just because one of the front tyres is completely flat (stuck valve, and then the tube's valve got lost in the wheel :( )
LOVING MY 40 SERIES SOOOOO MUCH! I would burn up a centrifugal clutch.
I now need to buy some front springs for "manco style" front suspension and a steering column and boss, then sort out the ackerman, caster, camber and toe in properly with no play...
Here is the kart. It looks a little strange, cos I need the 14" wheels on the front instead of 13" flat ones.
The new wheels require more braking power, so I need to fine tune my brakes to lock up the wheels.

Will do, after I sort the steering. As you can see the steering wheel designed for childrens toys has snapped! I dont want it breaking again when I am going 44mph!

Look closer- I am holding the steering wheel to mock up what it would look like.
About my ipod- the chip is just below the home button so not obscuring the screen.
I have a protector on so I sharpied over the chip- can hardly tell its there now!
