So you want to reverse it? Use output as input? That wont give you more torque, that will give you a smoking belt and a busted up tranny.

Thats alright dude; what your doing is great and appreciated by the community. Every couple of weeks someone is asking for the solution to the Vert-Horiz problem; a cheap solution would be awesome.

Keep up the good work!

When you gear it down (more inputs than outputs) you get more torque but less speed, and vise versa. So with that tranny i wouldnt suggest gearing it for a higher speed than 10 or 15mph due to the fact that it will more than likely rip apart or strip the gears. Your best bet is to look for a peerless 700 series transmission, they have 5 speeds, and can be race prepped and will handle quite a bit of torque. Over at heymow people will get 50mph+ out of them using ungoverned 18hp v twins and some 20hp also.

Looks like a dumb idea, I personally hate belts, but 2 different belts to split...it may work but your belt life will be very low and it will take up a lot of room.

just look for a horizontal engine, i find em for free all the time, just look for tillers, edgers, or snowblowers.

How about running the tran at stock speed with the stock pulley and gearing up one of the outputs(big sprocket on tran little one on axle), weld the diff up.

That's kinda what the first picture of this thread... Looks like.

You know I have an atc lower end. With some sort of right angle gearbox on it...I'ma go look at that.

This would take a lot of the speed strain off of the gearbox wouldn't it?

maybe but this is just theory im going to be working on this over the next couple weeks. i think the gear ratio of the gear box is 7.25:1 or 1:7.25.. lol the shaft only spins once for every 7.25 rotations of the pulley.

yup 7.25 inputs to 1 output would be 7:1 (about), i personally dont think the gearbox will hold up for a go kart tho.
