about power delivery........ I was thinking of the tranny. How about engaging any one particular gear and remove the shifter so that the tranny is kept stuck in one gear. Advice?

Everyone here wants a gearbox/transmission of some description on their go kart; to say "I have a gearbox but I'm gonna leave it in one gear" is almost like saying "all go karts are rubbish"; get ready for the backlash...

Ask yourself
Why don't car manufactures just do without ratios
Why not 1:1 from flywheel to tyres
While they are at it I hear clutches are expensive and heavy
What u will end up with is a ratio that is too slow
Or one that will be too high to get moving
With a small engine like yours it's basically a requirement to have a box

because the tranny IS STUCK THAT WAY. The tranny shifter is toast.

What'd I tell ya...Now, that's different; is the internal shifter mechanism faulty or just the external shifter pedal?
Final gearing could be fun; first you'd have to work out what gear it's stuck in so you can calculate what gearing you need; have fun with that...

the only option left is- take out all the transmission, make the engine work, put everything back together. Fabroman, all of the shifter assembly is blown (collateral damage, dude!)

here is all that I have. Three 16'' tires with wheels, two drum brakes with hubs, engine, one bare frame. What else will I need?
