Wasn't sure to if I should put this here or in the off topic forum so please feel free to move.

I know this isn't a kart but figured some of you would get a kick out of it. This is what I built for my 17 year old niece.

she will have 5 10" subs and be pushing about 1000 watts plus a pair of 6X9's in the box and speakers in both front and rear doors.

Yes...it is very loud.

cleaned up the wiring today and started on the amp cover. Should have it all buttoned up by tomorrow if everything goes smooth.

Here are a few pictures of it installed. Still need to clean up some of the edges of the carpet but overall, I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Once the amp cover is on, you will only see the tops of the amps.

If you look at the last pictures you can see how we molded the box to flow with the wheel well. Had we just squared it off, we would have ended up with a big gap.

Amp cover is done, just waiting to be installed. I'll post up finished pictures once I get my hands on the car again.

5 10's will shake your bowels loose! I have a friend that has 2 12's in a box and an 800 watt amp in the trunk of his old grandpa style Mercury and those things can hit. 5 10's in an open air trunk like that will be crazy! I almost picked up 2 15's in a box with 2 1000 watt amps that were on CL for $400. They were SPL 160's IIRC. The guy had them in his Blazer then his hatchback civic (ricer I'd assume ) and was selling them because he blew out too many windows he said.

He didn't blow out any windows. It's nothing more then a myth but you can gets systems powerfully enough to cause your hart to beat irregular. The system I did for my niece is in an Explorer. It's more then loud enough for her.

She had a guy friend that has 2 12's and called her up after he got his installed. Made a bet with her that his was louder. She came back with a big coke and her dad asked her where she got it. She said "I just won a bet with some guy that only had two subs".

She loves it because most guys don't expect a girl to have a stereo system like this much less, know what they are talking about.

That's priceless. I recently got to take my dad's 09 Galant out and it has one of those clutchless, sport transmissions. I was trying to explain to the girl I was with why I want to get a 5 speed sports car to do autocross and how a stick gives you SO much more control. So I gave the example of downshifting into 2nd out of a bend in his car and she was like WOAH, you feel it pull. I said yes and began to explain and she cut me off saying that's all boring and I don't care. I'm no longer seeing her. (Not for that of course )

I like someone else who can talk cars, motors, electronics, etc. with me.

When I was dating my wife, I took her offroading in my 1990 YJ. I danged near got us stuck in a mudhole. After clearing the other side, I looked over, expecting to see hatred in her eyes. Instead, she was grinning ear-to-ear and asking to do it again. That's about the time I figured I'd marry her!!!

And probably isn't much of a looker? There aren't many Danica Patrick's out there.

I'm not even asking to know specifics about a certain motor, car, series, etc. Just, for the love of God, know what downshifting is and what it does and know why a transmission has gears.

Redsox, she currently has a Kenwood single disk player but we are thinking about upgrading it to a 5.1 flip up with DVD. She is a soccer player and wants the ability to kick back and watch the recordings of the games.
