Hello all. I pick up this thing of CL for 100 bucks and I think it would be a great starter project..It runs good (needs so tuning) and drives, but needs some work. I have googled my fingers to death trying to find parts for it since everything is going buggyfied, so hopefully someone will recognize this one, maybe shoot some specs max tire sizes ect.
Also it needs some fresh paint, not sure if I should go powder coat
or primer and paint any suggestions? Thanks again for any and all help.

Dirt, Grass, pavement, anywhere with out trouble :)... The fronts seem to "push" instead of turn but I think its due to the crappy handtruck tires on it. But hey for what i Have in it, I cant complain.

It struggles on hills and inclines at a full stop, its time to replace. But on flat land ones it gets going it goes. Its been a while since i messed with these.....25 years? The steerring needs straightened, the bottom of the steering shaft is bent. One side of the Sterring knuckles needs straighten, probably from a hard hit...Needs new brakes shoes....new tires, new front rims (too small IMO) cant go much wider due to clearance. And fresh paint..OH and why can I not find this ANYWHERE on the interwebs?

I would go with a torque converter setup
More costly then a new clutch
But very worth it especially for off roading

Well currently my main concern is getting it painted-powder coated, and the bent parts repaired first. I can pick up a cheap clutch to us over for about 50 bucks. My main thing is trying to figure out where to get parts for it at...Like I would rather replace steering components then bend them back and weaken them more. Also the brake system needs work, it stops but I wont it on a dime with my kids on it.

I think the steering geometry may have something to do with it too

Well, here's the thing, powder coating is a rather involved (read expensive) process; first, the item (in this case, your frame) needs to be absolutely pristine, which means either sandblasting or an acid bath (any good powder coater can do both); then there's the limited colour chart...

However, you'll only ever have to do it once...

On the other hand, all that's required for painting is a rub down to remove any flakey paint & rust, shoot it with a few coats of primer, let that dry for a few days, wet rub it down & paint in any colour you can imagine... then do it all again in 5-10 years...

Yes I can agree....BUT with how the setup was bent, and bent back by the previous owner Im not sure where it should be set. I would like to find a new set of components for the front end, that would be drop in or close to drop in replacements...Guess it may be time to take up learning to wield while Im at it too :)

Yes it is, I use to work at a Powder coat shop ages ago and I did everything from car frames to shelving you name it. I never did see what they charged for this, but I do know the equipment isn't cheap. As for painting, I don't have an issue with it, just wanting something that will last. My son will pick the color, and sadly Black and Yellow, seems to be his choices so far. (After the Song)...

Sadly I have been at it all day, and still can't find any info on this cart what so ever...Tons of others, but not this one...But I shall not give up. My kids love it (cough cough so do I) so it will get going...eventually :)

Well. ...that's only part of it. ....you should check out the "camber caster Ackerman sticky.....so you get an idea of how the steering should be set up......

And if I'm not mistaken. ....that's a live axle set-up....which makes steering geometry that much more important. .....

So let's review. ...Strike one.....bent components. .....Strike two......live axle. .....STEEEEEEERIKE THREE!!!!!.......front tires.....so it's no surprise it's not turning on a dime........

Can you post some pics of the front end? Preferably with the steering centred & full lock in both directions; that should give us an idea of where you need to go...

You too huh :lolgoku: So, you get what's involved then... Think of it this way, 1 hour = around $50

I'm guessing your frame will cost around $300... but, that's just my guess

Honestly, I don't recall ever seeing a kart like it but, to me, it has hints of Azuza; if you wait until "the guru" (itsid) shows up, you should know exactly what it is (he's good like that...)

LOL ok ok...I get it, I have been reading this forum most of the afternoon, and still haven't gotten half way through it. Lots of nice set ups, builds and suggestions...So now I guess it time to do some measurements, check prices and find out who manufactured this frame. Its a little overwhelming but my kids are excited and thats all that matters...seems we never do anything fun due to work for me and school for them and completely different interests, but we finally found something that we both like so it will all be worth it in the long run.

If you've only been reading for one afternoon, you've barely scratched the surface :roflol:

This is the thread poboy mentioned; you may want to have a look at this one too... that should keep you busy for most of the night... :lolgoku:
