Just ordered some parts
2 new 20x10-8 turf saver, 16x6.5-8 front tire, all new bearings ( js, axle, and steering), throttle assembly with 100" cable, springs for TC driver, official mud bug fork decal.
Just need some brake levers and I should be in business.

Some parts arrived.
Frame painted, differential cleaned up ( inside and out ) and greased, sprocket painted, forks painted ( waiting on sticker for front plate). I decided to try to get as much surface rust off handle bars but failed... Decided to add layer of clear coat to prevent any further rust.
Need to clean up rear rims and mount the new tires.
Just wAiting on bearings to reassemble and have a completed rolling chAssis. Then on the fix leak in motor and then... Hopefully mud bug time

Hey everyone,

I just got back from a week long vacay in N.J. and had an hour or two of garage time.

I did get the differential completely done. Painted a few pieces to help it last another 40 years, replaced ALL the hardware and bearings, cleaned EVERYTHING and repacked with peerless bentonite grease.

I just need to seat the tires to the rims ( having a hard time with these 20 x 10 - 8 tire ) and I will have a rolling chassis.

Nice work. this is gonna be a cool ride. My 20x10x8 mower tires where a pita, After getting mad and fighting for an entire Sunday. My wife took them to a tire shop for me while I was at work the next Monday! I tried every trick on you tube they were a Pain!!!

Just wrap a ratcheting tie down around the tire in the center. Start tightening it up until the tire will hold air then release it and air up tire fully. Or since you are from W.V. do like my buddy's dad showed me and spray starter fluid in tire and ignite! Do not keep or have any body part over the tire you plan on keeping for a while though.

Thanks guys. I tried starter fluid - it normally works for me.
I tried ratcheting, but my lil pancake compressor isn't large enough to seat tire this big.

I think I will do a combo of ratchet strap and starter fluid and cross fingers.

I did take to several tire shops and the butt heads all said they can't do it.....grrrrrr

They didn't try hard enough haha I took a tire to the shop down the road from me but the side walls got deformed in shipping took them a half hour with a rachet strap and 3 guys but they got them mounted they were 22x11x8

Well the place I went was for motorcycles and ATVs I even talked them down haha and idk if car places are less likely to do it for you I'm lucky to have this place down the road thou haha

Bring it over to my house I'm in Ober Indiana and I'll get you fixed right up. Heck I won't even charge you anything!
The starter fluid trick always works. More starter fluid.

Slick. Here is a method I use with a crappy compresor. Remove the schraeder from the valve stem, get your ratchet strap all ready to go. put an air hose quick disconnect on your hose with no tool on it so the air can just blast out. kink the hose, put the hose up to the valve stem and let go of the kink. When the bead is set, put your finger on the valve stem then quickly stick the schraeder in.

I hope that made sense. but it works sometimes with a crappy compressor. And it is pretty much what a tire shop does.

Still no luck seating beads....
I did attach forks, main body, and the differential to sub frame.

Sheesh... what a P.I.A...
I got off a 3 day stretch of 12 hour shifts this morning at 7am.

I took the tires and rims to an ATV shop 20 miles away. They did manage to seat one bead.

Went home home napped for two hours. Drove 20 miles opposite direction to a Polaris dealership. They were unsuccessful. I was pretty disappointed.They did suggest a local small tire shop called Joe's Tire in St. Clairsville Ohio. They mounted it within 1 minute and free of charge....

So I gave them the $10 that Polaris and the other ATV shop was charging.

Now it is a roller!
