I'm purchasing this kart for the motor and torque converter due to that it runs and the whole thing is only $200. I have my own rolling frame but with 18in golf cart tires I needed a torque converter and wasn't too excited about the price (I'm 16. No job or car. Stuck in what I call the 16yo paradox, need a car to get to a job and need a job to get a car, anyways). It's a 30 series comet torque converter and needs a belt and maybe a hit with some sand paper but it's well worth the cost. It is a tecumseh motor :( but if it is a 3/4in shaft I'll gladly swap it out for a 6.5hp HF clone. Just wondering what the community is able to tell by looking at it (most likely nothing). Chain size? Drive shaft diameter? Anything at all?
Thanks

Those pictures are so small and such poor quality that you'll not be able to tell much from it. Looks like an Azusa Engineering kart from where i'm standing. The torque converter has the kit cover but honestly they sold these kits with both 3/4" and 1" bore so it could be either. You'll just have to wait and see, on the bright side if it is 1" bore those are worth much more since i've yet to see a Chinese copy of the 1" version.

Sorry about the photos those were the ones provided on CL. I'm hoping its a 3/4 so i can drop the motor back on CL cause people are horizontal motor happy and I'd like to pick up a HF Honda clone. I would prefer a clone over a tecumseh.

Looks about 8hp. Those bigger tecs are strong engines. I think almost all of them a 1" shaft. Electric start too. They never die that's for sure....

The only real problems i've seen with those are just the carb gumming up more often (Run premium gas) And people revving the sh!t out of them until the rod snaps and blows a hole in the block. I would go through the carb, blowing out the small passages in the high speed needle holder/seat. New spark plug, and do regular oil changes. You treat it good, it will treat you good. Ditch that muffler for a straight pipe too

Straight pipes are often illegal in many districts, due to ordinances. So before taking this guys advice, be sure to check local ordinances regarding the legality.

Well most likely I'm going to be riding this on some family property (about 90 acres) so idt many noise restrictions apply being that we can legally hunt and do ride anything with wheels and a motor. But I'll keep the muffler to be swapped out as needed.

Legality? It's a go kart mate, they're never gonna be legal on the road anyway!

To be fair, that looks like one fugly go kart =|

Aside from the motor mount which needs additional bracing these were very very strong karts and are fairly fun kits for people to assemble. I think its a good buy.

Ok, just talked to the owner of this cart. I'm looking to make an offer and purchase soon but I found out it is CAT99 torque converter, not a 30 series. Any info on these things?
Thanks

I was reading up on this site about it. Is it worth using?
If you read up above on my first post (#1) you will see it. I was going to pick it up for about $150.

If it works, then great! If not.. then you might have to remedy it, or buy a new one... That old stuff can be reliable... sometimes it cna be the opposite though...

Ok sounds good. The owners say all it needs is a belt and some wiring touched up but either way. The working tecumseh engine and parts are worth the $150. Hopefully the TC works. I just stumbled upon a 16hp Briggs V Twin running for $125...and well, it's mighty temping.
