Hey guys thought id post this on here just to get some feedback. Built this last year by myself (im 17 now). Bought the suzuki 230 shaft drive for 500 bucks and tore it apart the day after i had gotten it. i basically cut the front end and the top frame bar off and built custom from there to create a swing arm that held the engine as well as the diff. This thing has incredible torque but no go fast so i wanna change a lot. This i guess will be my build thread.

Just a quick note!

I like the build more than driving it around, so if i seem like im wasting my time trying new things its cause im experimenting, things will also not look professional!

i know the buggy i built is not perfect by any means

Maybe not but it's so close it's scary

That'd come down to gearing

I like the build more than driving it around

What's wrong with you, the build is meant to be half of the fun...

so if i seem like im wasting my time trying new things its cause im experimenting, things will also not look professional!

Do you know why WD40 is called WD40? That's how many times it took 'em to get it right

Great work! There is nothing wrong with experimenting.

I must admit that I too like the challenge of building more than the riding

Hey thanks guys haha didn't expect that response but no I didn't know that about wd-40. I know it's a gearing thing but I haven't changed anything from when it was on the quad frame so it's still the stock speed of the 1976 Suzukis haha it'll b. Faster when I can afford to make it faster haha

Well I know the quad was tipsy haha (found that put the hard way) and it's definitely not fast, that's the reason I want to change a few things. And no I'm not crazy haha I've just been working in the shop since I was 12 and I really enjoy it

And thats what ive been up to.

The bushings on the a arms are rubber so i can be out like i was and it'll still hold out for a test run.

Its definitely not my best work but because i plan on redoing the whole front end again im not too worried about it.

im sitting at about the same weight as i was originally but i picked up a lot of clearance and travel haha, the a arms are about 20 inches long and the tires are on backwards offsetting it to about two feet. That sure beats the half foot of A arm i had before haha

Hey guys, man rough weeks so far haha, I posted an add on sunday night on a local classifieds looking for a streebike engine for my buggy and so far im very impressed at the response, ive already been offered a mid 70s yamaha x s650 for 200 bucks and a 94 suzuki 750 katana engine for 250, i really like the thought of going back suzuki cause ive never had a major problem with them plus the engines newer and bigger for 50 extra bucks, idk why they are so cheap but they may just want to get rid of them finally. Let me know what you guys think! which engine i should buy or if i should buy one at all, i know id have to upgrade a lot on that buggy to support a 750 haha.

Anyway i have another picture again, i got the steering almost finished up but i have to find a way to link it to the steering wheel....

Thanks for your feedback guys!!! this site is awesome for that!

I'm impressed with that guy also. He obviously has money but took the time to learn and build the buggy instead of paying someone to build it for him.

17 years old. That is downright amazing!!! I couldn't pick my nose without it bleeding when I was 17.

What did those seats come out of? Man, I wish I had room for something that comfortable!

Yeah the guy did have money and a well equipped shop but I was very impressed

the seats are actually out of an old Saturn sc1, an oldvbuddy of mine blew it up so I bought the seats off of him, they were pretty narrow so They fit perfectly, I also kind of offset the driverside seat lower and closer to center to try and keep it as balanced as possible (because I'm a big guy and I don't always have passengers) I only did that for stability reasons

Really nice work. When I was your age I had a vw buggy, home made not by me. I didn't have the skills then and i'm not sure if I do now. Well done. Out of curiosity how did you bend the box?

you probably knew you were always going to have to change the engine? I'm no use to you with the engine choice i'm afraid, but i'd always go with the bigger option.

Fattony idk what you mean by box but I'm going to guess you mean tubing for the frame. My dad built a tubing bender out of scrap a few years ago and it's on a home made hydraulic press as a secondary system, I'll post a pic later maybe

I'll try to remember to post a pic, it's the saMe idea but ours is hydraulic, it's basically a u that pushes The tubing
into a couple of posts
