My latest go kart restoration is coming along

I bought this kart, another Fantic TX5 Broncco, a couple of weeks ago and got started on it the next day. I'm now in the process of assembling it. Originally I was going to put one of my Predator engines on it to match my yellow Fantic, then I decided to set this 163cc 6hp Champion on it to see how it looked. I think I like the yellow on the green... still undecided though.

It's looking great. What's the story on that unpainted secondary motor mounting plate? Just covering up the ugly cutouts on the primary plate?

Well... these are Italian karts and the motor mount is for a European 3hp Tecumseh. That's an adapter plate under the engine. And I'll confess, I was a dumb$hi+ for not just replacing the original motor mount in the first place. On the left side of the mount, the holes are so close to the frame that it's a real pain to try to tighten the bolts... AND, the slotted holes are indeed hacked up to the point where you can't even fit a washer big enough to keep the nut from just pulling through the hole.

I will be cutting that motor mount off and welding on a new one. ugh!!!

*** ...oh wait... those pics were taken before I put the adapter plate under the engine. What you're seeing under the engine is a piece of cardboard to keep from scratching the paint while I'm eyeballing my engine options.

Yep, click of magnifier shows the cardboard. Very clean job cutting the slots. Can't hold my yap any longer, have to say it, not a fan of the yellow at all. Didn't say so because it's a really cool looking engine, different than the norm. I'd say keep the engine for sure, just paint over the yellow. Not with pink. Or chartreuse.
