That's my Kart, I have absolutely no clue what type of engine is on it, all I know is that when I was about 6 years old it would run and it's been sitting for maybe 12 years now. My dad and I are going to buy another one tomorrow that'll be just for parts, so he knows more than I do.

Just trying to get some general info on what you guys think, heard this was a good place to get some information for being inexperienced with these things.

If it were a motorcycle engine, I'd know what to do. Never worked or touched one of these things in my life, looking to learn as much as anyone can tell me.

Appreciation in advance, thanks!

Im gonna guess 3-3.5hp Tecumseh. Thats quite a nifty lil kart you got there.
Are you planning to use that same motor? Or get a new one?

From what my dad has told me, he pretty much built it himself.

I'm really open to suggestions, I have no clue what I really want to do with it, I only know what I want it to do. I want something more adult-based fun, I don't just want to putt around in my back yard. I want quite a bit of power, and honestly I want to drift it lol. All on a budget though, I can't really go all out.

What kind of budget?

Hers what I would do...
Stretch the frame, convert to live axle, bigger motor, and band or disk brakes.

Oh and maybe a nice seat and paintjob.
:D

I have no clue what is a lot, and what isn't for a gokart. I honestly just want something that'll be super fun.

Extending the frame-what's the best way to do that?(sorry, i am a noob :p)

live axle--how much
the bigger motor, I can salvage a 250cc motorcycle engine pretty cheap, correct?
Brakes--I was noticing that, I would have to be replacing tires a lot if I didn't upgrade them, what do you suggest that's relatively effective and cheap?

:p maybe a nice seat, i like having a rat rod ;p

Firstly, instead of asking how big your budget is, since that's all relative, what are you willing to put into it?

I, too, would agree that it's a <5HP Tecumseh engine. I would upgrade the brakes for sure...as for the 250cc bike engine, that seems a bit big for that frame.

I want it to be fast, that's all I'm looking for. As for the engine being too big, you're probably right, but I definitely want at least 125cc's in it.

Give me some suggestions, I'm open to all of them. As long as it's relatively cheap, I can't blow more than like $200...that's probably really low considering my expectations, but hey I'm here for the reality check.

Everblade, if only I had more money, I would jump all over that probably. I'm looking for more simple necessary upgrades first :p.

Thanks Blazkowies, it's weird seeing this one compared to all the "normal" styles I see nowadays, I love how low it is and how intimidating it looks! I can tell that she ain't gonna be afraid to go fast.

u dont need or want 16hp

the standard 6.5hp will make it fly

as for extending the frame what u need to do is cut the frame in half (probs between the steering wheel and the seat)
then weld in two sections of tube and a new section of floor

although firstly how long is it can u still fit in it
it may not need extending

I can fit in it now, but I do have to bed my knees too much. I look like Donkey Kong from Mario Kart racing, lol.

If you have a welder and metal cutting saw, you can do anything! If yopu're going to extend that frame, you'll need tools, metal, time and skill. If you do extend it, you may want to extend the steering, but with length, you' get height.

I would just try and get a cheap 5-7.5 HP engine, you may need to drill some new holes and possibly need a new and bigger mounting plate.

Yeah, we've got one just like it in the side building right now. Those are some solid karts, they're from Louisiana and straight classic if you were wondering.
