hey all again,

i have pulled off the 5 hp briggs and i am working on putting on a 11hp honda gx340,

i have some ideas and would like your advice

my biggest question is, and it may be stupid but im gonna ask,
my honda has a bigger shaft then the briggs, i measured the shaft from edge to edge and it is one inch, so heres the stupid part would this be a 1 inch shaft,

also i have to replace the pulley that goes on the shaft for the belt since its larger then the briggs, whats the name of that pulley and where can i order one from,

one more question the part that holds the cam gear, and bolts over the shaft, the honda is 1 1/4 taller then the briggs, therefore the shaft does not line up with the hole do i need that part or can i cut it in half

Yup- 1" Shaft. You'll need a new clutch, or CVT drive pulley, or whatever it is you have on there. Pics are good.

Little lost on the cam gear thing. Pic?

You'll probably find that engine mount bolt holes no longer align, but that's a (relatively) easy fix.

I feel ya! I'm out in the sticks too, using an RF Wireless system. It's crotchety at best, and sometimes when enough snow gets on the antenna, I lose my signal.

Ahem- If you find yerself hittin' on yer antenna tower with a two-by-four tryin' ta check yer Email, you might be a redneck...

(My own quote, but a tip of the proverbial headgear to Mr. Jeff Foxworthy...)

For a beast like that, you definitely want a Comet 40 or equivalent. It looks like there's some leftovers from a COMET TAV or something, but it's not suitable for the new engine. I think the 20's 30's TAV's etc aren't capable of handling that duty.

For the record, until recently, my kart used the GX340/Comet40 combo driving 18" tires at 4.8:1. You'll need to go deeper with those ATV tires, which are probably 22". I think you're going to need to be around 6:1 or so for any kind of desirable acceleration.

hey so what do you think about that metal bracket in the picture, it mounts under the engine and the chain drives it and the belt runs off that pulley, with the honda it does not line up with that hole can i just cut that in half and just have it mounted under the engine
