So here's what I'm working on at the moment. Got a Manco Red Fox frame, and 6.5 Hensim engine off CL for 40 bucks.

A friend of a friend needed car audio work done, for his 2 sons cars, and wife's car. I traded the fees for this. Its also a Manco.

I'm a Welding student at the local Technical college so i have access to every tool needed. Lets get them running. Here's what I have got done so far.

The left side wing thingy (yes I'm a very technical person) is missing. Will be making a new one in class.

You can see where they cut it off for whatever reason.

The passenger side.

The old rusted out floor pan. Replacing with diamond plate.

Spindles, one was bent a bit.

All striped down, with floor cut out.

Testing some colors on the spindles and pedals. If i have the time I'm going to strip these and polish them.

Before adding the new wing thingy.

Finishing up the welds

All welded up.

Added an extra back rest.

Test fitting the wood for the seat.

Prime, and paint.

Got some work to do, but this Christmas will be a good one.

Thanks. I should have the 2 of them up and running for Christmas. They would never think that wee would give them something like this. All they have been asking for is a PS3. All they have is video games. Time to go back outside!!!!!!

LOL. I went to Toys R Us at 6:00pm for there 9:00pm sale on Thursday afternoon. Line was wrapped around the building. So I drove to Wal-Mart, and was the first in line (6:30pm) for one. They only had 33 of them so I stood there until 10:00pm. So I'm banking on the first time they pull those strings, and hear there engine's fire up that they will forget all about the PS3 that's in the house.

Quick update.

I plan on doing a live axle conversion, add better brake's, Torq converter, or small 4stroke like a xr 100 engine. on the RedFox after Christmas.

Red Fox Kart needed a steering wheel so.

Got some more grinding to do before its all done.

Seats all done.

Had to make a hub adapter.

In a rush went to thin on the floor material. So will be replacing that with him for future projects. It will do fine for now. Got the Kill switch mounted, and wired up.

I attempted to do a blue to black fade with the paint. Came out OK. Not bad for my first time.

Got the red Kart up, and running also. The Carb on the original engine was all rusty in the bowl. So I decided to get a Harbor Freight 99cc Predator. More than enough for my youngest 2. 2 new rear tires, and wire up the kill switch. She's ready to go.

Steering throttle for my 3yo. Needs throttle cable.

Had to flip the pull strat, so you can reach it from the back of the Kart.

i like your craftsmanship, and your ability to redo things correctly without destroying them, keep this up and teach your kids along the way.

First off....nice builds!! I was just having a look at the steering throttle on the second kart. Would it not be a bit difficult to turn and use the throttle at the same time, or is the turning radius quite small and you can hang onto the throttle all the time?

Thanks for the compliments guys. Makes me fell even better about Christmas morning!!!!

Yeah the steering radius is small. I've already pushed my 3yo around the yard in it, and to my surprise he was able to steer with no problem. (he has no idea what there called so he can't tell his brothers) Saw some vids on youtube of karts with hand throttles, so that's where the idea came from. Just have to rig it so hes not able to grab full throttle with it. I guess its time to ditch his power wheel's. LOL

Edit.. Just to add. The 6.5hp on the Red Fox 2 seater has some power. The Red Fox is same type that my friends, and i had as kids. (that's how i knew where everything went) But we had 3.5's i think one person had a 5hp. What a difference, that thing pulled my tuby tuby with no problem. This will be there first motorized vehicles so safety first. have to adjust the governor screws.

The 3hp pulled me around also. LOL it was not to happy doing it. LOL What can i say test runs are fun. Now I have to build one for myself.

Just have to rig it so hes not able to grab full throttle with it.

Just be careful in doing that. If you limit the throttle too much, the clutch will never engage properly and all the slipping will fry the clutch in no time. The recommended way to slow a kart down would be through gearing lower.

So my 3yo, and I were out cleaning the yard today. I had 2 old weed eaters that had to go to the trash. As I'm putting one in the trunk my son says let me help. He grabs the handle and then it hits me. Passenger handle!!!

Good or bad idea?
