hey there!
just starting up a new thread with all the details and specs of my new kart build! i've taken a one wheel drive manco kart, a quad, and a clone engine. i'm hoping to come out with a two wheel drive 7hp kart with full front double a arm suspension. here are some pics of before i started and it with bottom a arm mount welded on. i will be updating this thread as the build develops.

anyone with any sugestions would be gretly appreciated.

Thanks!:auto:

well the easiest way to do it was to just "bolt" it straight on. probably is overkill but this is being done on a shoestring so i couldnt do much!

The steering geometry may be off now that you've widened the front, but it should still be fine off road.

hey gotta make the best with what ya have! especially in Ireland decent scrap yards few and far between. besides I couldn't make it any thinner/smaller as I want to use proper off road wheels without spending a small fortune, e.g. quad wheels which I had. and as regards the suspension, if youre talking about camber i have it well set

I would defiantly put some braces on those uprights, or it's going to fold up on you like a folding chair.

Something like this.

Or like this.

thats what i'm planning, you may not be able to see but i left 1.5 inches at the top of each strut to put in across. also they'll be tied down to the a arm mounts which will be braced to the frame and across, something like this maybe...

Just one across the top will let it flex a truss or cross brace will be much stronger.
Also you may want to weld some gussets or braces in front and behind those uprights to keep them from flexing fore and aft.

You are gonna need to make the original frame alot stronger.

another pretty big update today;
i got round to properly mounting rear axle and sprocket, and fitted the engine and chain(still to be tightened and straitened).
i also started supporting the front supension by making an adjustable "strut brace" to die the front suspension tops together tightly. when this is pulled in, i plan to weld a piece of strong flat steel across the base which will both support itand bind it! as always any tips will be greatly appreciated, esp how to strengthen the back section(that holds the axle)
