hello there im new here but would like to show u the go kart i having been rebuilding i bought this off a friend fo £25 but had not engine and was nothin wrong with is put i want to make it look ace its not done yet but soon will be the other thing to buy next is engine i want a a 4 stroke engine 6.5 hp is that anoth and all so will i need to remove to governor and wat will that do and the oil alert pls tell me

thanks dan i have a 250cc 4 stoke pit bike engine thats doing nothin but would have to put a new sprocket on the go kart how would i do that and would need to put clutch on it to

Your 250cc should have it's own clutch. Does it not?
Search the forums- there's gobs of info about governor removal, and the oil alert switch.
As for the sprocket change, you will have to work out the appropriate gear ratio and select a sprocket with the correct amount of teeth, chain type, and hub. You can figure this stuff out by examining the engine's output sprocket and running your numbers through a speed calculator.

yes mate its dose have a clutch i was on about put a clutch pedal on the kart and can use the back sprocket of the bike and put that on the go kart cheers

The clutch pedal should be pretty easy if you've got some fabrication skills. Using the bike's sprocket will probably not not work out well for you. The kart's tires are much smaller than the bike's, throwing the ratio way off. The sprocket might even be large enough to come dangerously close to the ground. And- you will need to find a way to mount the sprocket to the axle. This will not be easy. You'd be better off to purchase a sprocket/hub combo that fits your axle.

There are many places to get sprockets and hubs, depending on what you need. I would suggest you figure out what you need first, then shop. If you're lucky enough to only need #35,40 or 50, then you can get them quite cheaply thru TSC or similar places.
Wait a minute, you keep saying "mate"- are you in Oz?

Somebody else may correct me, but I believe 428 is interchangeable with #40 chain and sprockets. That being the case, you would get a new axle sprocket for #40 chain. Now, you would have to find the right # of teeth required, and your axle diameter.

In the UK, race karts with 250cc motorcycle engines are called Superkarts.

The number of teeth to choose for your rear axle sprocket will depend on your engines max rpm, its transmission's final drive ratio and what top speeds you'd like to hit. (if you already know this info or just post what model engine you have we'll try to help you select the best size rear sprocket)

Most Superkarts end up using smaller sized 19 to 30 tooth rear sprockets that fit directly on the axle without a separate hub. So before ordering you'll also need to measure your axle to see if its the 30, 40 or 50mm diameter size, and confirm it has a Keyway machined where you'll need the sprocket mounted.

hello there i am in staffordshire and the engine is a 250cc lifan and took it out of a pit bike (make of bike is a hummer) if u could help me to get the right size back sprocket and hub would be great rember its a 428 chain here is a pic of engine i want to put in it cheers

If your axle is 30 mm, I'd probably get the 26 tooth sprocket from your top link.
The speed calculator shows you'd end up with around a 90 km/h top speed, but your actual top speed would probably end up being a little lower.
