Hey guys, was bored and figured someone on here might be interested. A little while back I found a bike on the side of the road during our biannual bulk waste pickup (verge cleanup?). Initially grabbed it for parts for an old malvern star I also found....but realised as soon as i picked it up that it was too good for parts :D

Dunno if you guys have heard of the bike, but its a Brodie Kinetic '06. From what I've read theyre a bit more popular in america and canada than here. Anyway, everything I can find seems to indicate it was worth around $1500 new. All it needed was a pedal, grips, tyres and a general service. About $30 later and look at what I have :D

Has to be my holy grail of trash picking :D

I've had my ramble now. Any of you guys got awesome stuff off the side of the road? hahahaha

:iagree: I have to agree with r_chez_08 there. I would be pretty :furious2::furious2: if someone came along and took my $1500 bike when I was just round the corner... Still a nice score on the bike front.

Wow, forgot to reply

Nah the person whos house it was in front of was in their garage so I asked and they just waved at me to take it.... Might have been her ex husbands or something :surrender: Ill be careful on the trails for a while just in case he wants his bike back :worried2:

Haha I wish there was old junk just ditched in the bush around here, but the most there is are burnt out cars that have been sitting there rusting for 20 years at least. I actually saw a straight six head on the side of a mountain bike trail yesterday morning....was more just a block of rust though :roflol:

Oh well when I went to return the other day to retrieve the bike frame it had already gone:devil2:

There is a big junk yard about a mile from my house. But I will never go in there, it is owned by this gypo who has threatens the naibards about is anyone ever touches his land then you will be smashed. He must have around 6 CCTV cameras just watching his sight. But the yard is loaded with stuff like old trucks, motorbikes a 10 ton digger a canal boat and dumper trucks one day I'll go in and try and buy a bike off him :Dbut every one is really scared of him...:devil2:

hahaha, unlucky about the frame, good luck with the gypsy. If you manage to get in there one day try and get some photos. Theres only one scrapyard around here that actually sells stuff, they charge an entry fee though. You guys are really lucky with the scrap places, based off what ive read on here

there use to be a place like that a bit outside of town. i made a bit of money from some of the stuff i pick up before someone came in and clean the property up completely. also got some cool stuff out of the place.

that bike was pretty good score. anything i find in the trash and can make a quick buck fixing and selling i will. since i now have 2 vehicles i have been getting rid of my bikes. down to less than 10 bikes and i have 3 that i need to finish fixing up to sell. i am hoping to get down to just 4 bikes eventually.

I wish there were places like that around here....Everything seems to be either already taken or cleared out by council

I figured I could probably make 400 or so on that bike if I tried, but I already needed a decent bike so, Its staying :D Works for me
