Giving this thread a little revive.
Firstly, can I get this moved to Go kart projects forum? Thanks!
I've been tinkering with what I have had without spending money for quite a while and now I have purchased my axle, hubs, brakes, and everything seems to work great so far! I'm just waiting on a backordered clutch and we're good to go!
Heres a picture of what we have at the moment.
Looks are deceiving. Here's my exhaust pipe. (will be cleaned up and polished soon)
This exhaust has only one active outputting exhaust and the other is for a little show. I've built a nice little flame thrower tail pipe which runs off of propane. Since propane will not burn by itself without an air mixture, it will not flash up the tube into the tank, but it will only burn at the end of the pipe. The two parallel pipes have a hole drilled between them where the bottom fishmouthed coupler meets. this allows engine backfiring to ignite it. I'm most likely going to seal it off and place an ignition source in there to make it spark when I want it to and stay well lit while the engine is on. It's a work in progress, fixing little kinks and such, but it'll be neat when its done.
Heres a video.

Rigged up a speedometer, OOOGA horn, electric start, choke shift stick, seat belt, and other random doo-dads. I can just get in the kart, throw the choke, ignition, and drive off. No need to get out to try and change things with the choke and trying to get it running.
Steering has been improved with steel brackets and the diy weldless spindles(with a bit of welding though), but it is a bit rough to turn. It's fine for now and easy enough while i'm rolling, but turning when its sitting is hard if I want to spin the kart without picking it up and dragging it.
