Hello!
Iv started building my first off road kart, got some front wheels for it today 18" by 6.5" made the basic shape of the frame out of 25mm x 25mm x 2.5mm steel box section, im going to add a few more pieces across the frame to strengthen it up. I'v ordered a rear end off a quad bike from ebay, with 18" x 9" wheels, should be receiving them soon. I'm going to build up the front slightly and make 4 A arms to go on the front so the front wheels stay parallel to the frame when going over bumps! just got a basic go kart seat of ebay and going to make the steering as simple as possible.
what engine do you recon i should use?? I wanted to put a 600cc bike engine on it but atm i dont have enough ££££, what you recon about a 125cc pit bike engine? just to get me rolling at first, i can get a complete running engine with loom and carb brand new for around 140£?
here's a few first pics of the kart, Lett me know what you think! ill keep you up to date on its progress
here's a quick drawing to scale of the bottom of the frame so i could measure the angles and make sure i had the right angles when cutting the steel out so they would all fit together properly...
Here's a picture of the bottom of the frame and the front wheels
Btw this is my first post hopefully all my pictures will show up and everything will go okay.... but if not this is my excuse
