Hi, my name is Katie. I'm in a limbo between working and going to college, so I decided to start a project. It was either build a computer or build a go- kart, and this seemed a **** of a lot more fun. Except... I have no idea what I'm doing!

I'm trying to make a relatively simple/ inexpensive kart, just something to scoot around in for a while on the weekends. I'm not looking to blaze down the street, just have a fun time and feel the wind on my face.

I need help figuring out the technical stuff, like what kind of motor and batteries I need, etc. etc. etc.

Help?

welcome, most of the people here are pretty good at helping out, but to be honest, if you really dont know anything about go karts and electronics, this might be a tough road ahead of you... definitely not trying to scare you off, but just warn you that electric can be a little dangerous...

but if your still here then this is my suggestion.

-find a used gokart frame off of craigslist in working condition.
-find/buy a simple 1000W 36V MY1020 motor online
-pick up a simple PM motor controller (I use a Kelly controller, but they are more expensive)
-and pick up three 12V 10AHr batteries or similar

Those are the main items you need
But before you do any of that, read!!!!!! and research!!!!!
There are some great stickies around the forum and lots of info online.

We are here to help, but our patience does run thin when people just want us to tell them exactly what to do, part of the fun is learning it...

thanx
Danny

Have fun figuring out steering! Better off buying a used electric scooter on craigslist, get new batteries, and have a blast.
