Hello all! My name is Andrew and for my 30th birthday (and of course for the kids) I purchased my first Go Kart today, a Manco Dingo 2 seater with a Honda GX390 13HP. For $400 I think I did pretty good, all things considered. After a little sea foam in the fuel and oil (of course I didn't leave in the sea foam...I let the engine idle for about 15 mins and then changed it), cleaned the carb and sediment cup, and adjusted the brakes (cables and calipers and such) the thing ran like a dream and I drove the heck out of it all day today. Of course I had a little help from forums and the Honda Manual I found online, but I'm a decent shade tree mechanic and am a Fabricator at a local shipyard so a project like this is right up my alley! What doesn't work is the starter and the battery is dead. Once I replace those two items I will know what works and what doesn't, electronically speaking...kill switch, lights and whatnot. What I will need help on is a wiring system as I want to add turn signals and a horn. While my neighborhood is very golf cart, go cart, four wheeler and dirt bike friendly, I think the things I want to add would be for added safety and courtesy. Anyway, thanks for reading and a post with pictures and more direct questions will be coming in the following weeks!

Welcome. Have you considered rebuilding the starter? It could be something as simple as brushes, but I wouldn't know where to start, just a thought.

I hadn't considered rebuilding it.....although I have already ordered a new starter for a pretty reasonable price.
